Thank God. Dark days are over. With the training camps open we are back to life. Soon there will be pre-season games and football as we know it will also be back. Jets are back too if you didn't notice. They brought in a very good Defensive Coordinator and took a gamble on Adam Gase. But more importantly they spend good money to upgrade the roster. Still some question marks at Corner and Center etc but this squad has some nice pieces in it. With today's first practice our journey for play offs start. 10-6 baby. Bring on the season. P.S. Haters gonna hate but what can I do sometimes?
Adam Jones retired, so I hope it isn't him. 10-6 is a good prediction for this team. Anything less than 9-7 and I will be calling for heads to roll (again.)
Great optimistic post Brook! This team is moving in the right direction and needs all the positive energy it can get. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
I'll be happy if they win 7 or more. The expectation this year is big improvement, then playoff contention in 2020. If this is another year where all we are concerned with is next year's draft position, it will be very very disappointing considering all the changes to players and coaching staff.
I will be at the Browns game in person to see Jets kick Mayfield's ass. 2-0 is coming. Locked and loaded. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
Yeah I am happy with 7 or more wins this year. I want to see another step taken in the right direction by Sam and this team playing games that matter in December. Then in 2020 it’s playoffs or bust. No more waiting. Joe Douglas just has to shore up the offensive line (no easy task) and grab at least 1 good starting cornerback and I think this team will be very good.
I agree 7 to 8 wins is what im looking for ... playing meaningful game in dec would be nice....10 wins?? Dont know about that.... O-line needs work im worry about sam health with this line.... and we still need a CB.... the bills and browns games will tell us a lot
You could start by telling us of your beverage of choice - it's got to be something other than just regular beer.
Gotta admit, I'm more pumped for this season than I have been in a long while. Might just be the ill advised offseason fandom prying itself out, and I'll probably go back to annoyed once Harrison gets himself spun like a top to get Sam sacked or one of our CBs getters torched for an easy TD, but right now I'm good.
If things break right then a WC is possible but like others have said 7-9 wins and a step in the right direction is fine with me as well. What has me excited about the Jets is our new GM knows how to build a winner. I have no doubt he will build a good team around Darnold. Hoping for the playoffs this year but I really think 2020 and beyond is when the Jets will become a legit contender.
I want more than the feeling that the season is over by week 6. If we improve as I expect us to improve, Sam improves and we're still caring about scores, W's & L's at the end of the season, playing games with meaning that goes deeper than draft positioning, I'll be one happy Jet fan. I totally expect to be very happy this year, watching entertaining and meaningful games for the first time in years
Good article in today's NY Times about teams going from first to worst and worst to first. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/24/sports/football/nfl-division-jaguars-ravens.html Also possible: Jets. Eight years without a playoff appearance and consecutive five-, five- and four-win seasons don’t seem to bode well for a turnaround. But the New York Jets have had a pretty good off-season and could surprise. Optimism is especially high thanks to the signing of running back Le’Veon Bell, a workhorse for the Steelers for five seasons who may be fresher than ever after completing a yearlong holdout. Sam Darnold should be a good candidate for the typical sophomore improvement for N.F.L. quarterbacks. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams of Alabama looks like a good catch at the No. 3 spot in the draft. An out-of-the-blue year like 2015, when the Jets went 10-6, is not impossible. And it would help if the Patriots slip from all-conquering to just very good.
If we only had changed GM's when we changed HC's.. Then again perhaps we don't get Douglas and wind up with another idiot. Things happen for a reason...
