About time. I wanted to post this here to give the Jets fans who didnt want Crabtree on yalls team some piece of mind. Actual links will follow later in the day once the news spreads. It should be interesting to see what side budged.
I had some reservation about posting from a twitter acount, but considering the source and the fact he addressed the signing as news to ESPN, his employer, I am 100% confident the info is solid. From all accounts I've heard by the experts, they've said that the WR position can be plugged in pretty quickly. Plus I guess it depends on what kind of shape he reports in as well.
You'd have to imagine he shows up in good shape but who knows how long til he gets the routes down. Nevertheless time to pick him up in fantasy if you have room.
So, will the tampering charge now get dropped? My guess is the league told them they had no case and that is why the deal with Crabtree was made.
Conspiracy theorists would tell you that Crabtree ultimately signed because the Jets were going with Edwards, or that the Jets went with Edwards because Crabtree was going to sign with the 49ers - hence, the two occurring at the same time is more proof that the Jets tampered. I personally don't believe a word of it, since Crabtree couldn't possibly help the Jets this year (of course), but this doesn't necessarily make the tampering case go away, especially if he signed for much more than what the 49ers originally offered.
Crabtree Tampering Case Will Proceed profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/10/07/crabtree-tampering-case-will-proceed/ "Despite the fact that the 49ers have signed receiver Michael Crabtree and the fact that the Jets have traded for a receiver not named Michael Crabtree, a league source tells us that the tampering allegations made by the 49ers against the Jets will not be withdrawn."
ESPN is reporting MC Hammer had something to do with getting the deal done. This gets weirder by the minute
