Now that the panthers have aquired mike tolbert, is it posible we make a trade for Stewart? i know we have Greene and McKnight, but LT is gonna most likely be gone. Stewart can catch the ball out of the back and is also a powerful back. Just tossing the idea around, what do you think?
I love Stewart. To me, he can do it all. You have to trade for him and you have to sign him to an extension. I say 3rd rounder.
Why would Carolina be trading a 235 lb back with 3,500 yards before the age of 25? I'm just not seeing this. That's the kind of player you try to lock up for 4 years not trade at 75% of his actual value. Something is not right here.
Is he not the best of their runningbacks though? Why would they sign Tolbert, making him one of 30 runningbacks and choosing to let him go? I guess it might just be their choice to do so but it seems like a pretty silly thing to do.
under 1.5 million. He only has 2012 left on his contract and they have williams and tolbert under contract.

I would love to make a play for him, but with his declining carries last season, injury plagued 2010, age and contract size, $43 M, (not sure how much guaranteed) DeAngelo Williams looks like the odd man out, not Stewart.
No team will take on that salary in a trade. I guess they could release DeAngelo, but that would probably be a brutal cap hit for Carolina, who would then still have to sign Stewart to a long term deal. That would be a lot of $ tied up in RBs.
I was thinking that he would be released and not traded. Other than really Steve Smith, Carolina seems to be looking towards a youth movement, cutting DeAngelo would prob be a big cap hit, but with a young qb, young backs and if they get any production from LaFells or Naanee, a young receiving core, to grow together. I'm not saying I am right, but if I am GM and looking towards putting a winning team on the field for the next 5 years, this is, IMO, the best way to go.
they arent goign to cut him the guy is the best back they have, he will be traded for something of value. I think he is worth a 4th possible a 3rd.
Nobody talks about Michael Bush who is a free agent. He has plenty of size and speed to be the type of back we need. If they really want to run the ball 75% of the time he would be the back I go after no matter what kind of contract he gets.
