Idzik leeting Cromartie go was an big letdown, just further emphasizing how clueless he was. I know Cromartie has had his issues, but I'd love to see him back.
I wouldn't hate the move, but I also didn't mind Idzik letting him go in the first place. He's 30 and always has injury concerns. That being said, having familiarity with the new head coach and DC is an added bonus. He knows the system and can help teach it to guys like McDougle and Milliner.
Anyone who doesn't want Cromartie didn't see him play in Arizona. He is, of course, one year older. But he is also familiar with our HC, familiar with our team, and he could be a good mentor and player for at least another year.
Also, read Cro's tweets about Bowles (to the Jets): http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/158845/cardinals-react-to-todd-bowles-leaving-for-jets
Agreed. It was disheartening to see him signed away by Arizona for such little money and then play well after the Jets brought in Dimitri Patterson to essentially replace him... In 2014 we saw what many suspected: Cro can still play at a high level and his nagging hip injury was likely a key culprit in his poor play in 2013. Cro could demand more money than his 3.5M 2014 salary, but probably not much more. He would be a great addition to a young secondary that has some talent at CB and would likely come at a better price than guys like Tramon Williams, Kareem Jackson and Byron Maxwell while still being a just-as-good or better-caliber player. I think such a reunion with Cro in NY/ with Bowles seems like a pretty likely scenario IMO
I would certainly love to see Bowles bring Cro back. I was one of the few here who was against letting Cro go, and once again I was right. Sure Cro will be a year older, but I think in addition he would be a steadying vet presence as the team likely embarks on a wholesale rebuilding of the secondary.
You're the best. Just ask yourself. One of the few? I must be thinking of someone else. I think a lot of people were upset Cro was let go. I didn't love it for sure, but I understood the thinking behind it.
You mean like he totally sucked the year before?! That said, dude does average about 3 INTs a year and over 10 Passes Defensed.
Well yes he did suck pretty badly, but we had a bunch of young CBs on a rebuilding team... I understand not spending $3 mil on a CB about to turn 30. This year is a totally different story. He can help teach.
Cro is very good if you have a nice safety overtop. He was hurt in 2013 and we didn't really have any support. He's obviously not a shut down corner but he's way better than anyone we have now.
Cro was a class act in his tweets. Hopefully he realizes it was Idzik who disrespected him so badly last offseason. I mean the fans did shit on him pretty good but I doubt he reads around TGG. Pretty sad we gave Patterson nearly an identical deal Cromartie received..Who would've done more for us last season?
i hated to see cro leave but we were paying him too much please come back for a better price, we need cro more than ever now
http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/51589/309/2015-nfl-free-agents I could see us going after CJ Spiller. Natural fit with Gailey, who put him in a position to have a career best season not long ago. Pair him up with Ivory for new Thunder and Lightning. Demarco Murray is also intriguing. Word is Dallas might just let him walk. We have a ton of cap space, and Dallas can't franchise both Dez and Demarco.
