since we have Suggs, Blaylock, Washington and Martin. Either Blaylock or Houston has too go right, wrong. We could keep Houston since he isnt really a good RB and move him to FB. He has a lot of power and he is a power back and he has good goaline ablity, we could put him at FB. Tell me what you think.

Did you see that block he missed on Friday? Almost got Pennington killed. Just because he is a power-back does not mean he can automatically turn into a blocking fullback. I would be much more comfortable with Askew at FB over Houston.

Can someone please check that tape and verify this for me:

I always believed that it is a lineman's responsibility to take care of the inside rush when there is a blitz? Regardless of what defensive position is blitzing the rule is to pick it up from the inside out?

If this is true - then Houston did not miss the block. Adrian Jones did. AJones let the blitzing DB run right by him on his left while he blocked the end. I really don't see how Houston had any chance of making that block seeing as the DB timed the snap count perfectly. Houston couldn't have gotten there in time. Now the DE that Ajones blocked is a different story. Houston would have had plenty of time to at least chip him.

Penny would have been sacked regardless - but at least he would have had a moment to tuck the ball away.

That is sometimers the rule, but sometimes the rule is big on big. I don't know what our rule is, but there's also the unwritten rule that you don't blitz in preseason. That seems to be disappearing quickly, and is no excuse for not being ready for it, but still.

Are you sure? I am alomost positive the guy who hit Penny first came right up the middle untouched. I'll double check after I bed today(I work nights).

houston will not be a converted to a FB, he is still the only hb over 210 lbs. we would have nothing but light weights out there and he's good simply b/c of his different body type/running type.

Also, you guys do realize we were playing Tampa Bay right? Were we supposed to average 6 yards a carry against one of the premier defenses in the NFL with a new look oline?!? I think the 1st team performed admirably besides that missed blitz pickup.

We play another good defense this weekend, so don't expect to much more besides what you just saw, outside of a slightly improved running game.

Houston missed a block regardless if someone on the OL missed one too. Houston's responsibility is to pick up the "most inside" blitzer, and he went low on the guy (rookie mistake)

We dont have Suggs number one... and Doug Jolley would be a much better option at FB

No way hes no FB only a RB. Where the hell do you come up with these things? Cedric Houston is way more of a natural RB he wouldnt fit good into FB.

He probably missed the block because of his eyes.
