So with the very real possibility of the Jets facing Indy in the playoffs... how do you rate the cornerback depth at this point in the season? Revis and Cromartie are obvious... but the Jets have been very inconsistent with everyone behind those two... where do you order them for this game? Mine: 1) Revis 2) Cromartie 3) Cole 4) Wilson 5) Trufant 6) Lowery 7) Gholston 8) Coleman
Revis Cromartie Wilson Coleman Cole Lowery isn't really a corner anymore and Trufant just got signed (he's a special teamer).
I think from a man coverage perspective....I like the rankings. But from a blitz package perspective....Coleman needs to climb those rankings.
Good point, and I'm sure thats when Coleman is going to see a majority of his work. He's been very good in the pass rush but in coverage he's like a wet sheet of paper.
I highly doubt Manning would ever get sacked by Coleman. 1. Coleman can't tackle him. 2. Manning will be throwing slants to Garcon when he suspects the blitz like last year. I hope he proves me wrong though.
Despite Coleman's deficiencies in coverage....he's got a knack for getting to the QB and creating turnovers. If the coverage is tight on Wayne/Garcon/Tamme/White.....Coleman could work some magic.
hahahaha...crazy eh? everytime I want to renounce Coleman from the Jets.....he makes a couple of game-changing plays. Just don't ask him to cover anybody in the secondary, and he'll be fine.
Wait, did you actually suggest Gholston as cornerback depth? And did you rank him over Coleman? Please explain why. Even to be kidding around, Coleman isn't that bad  .
I thought Wilson and Cole looked good today.. the only one who sucked was Coleman, as usual. Of course he had that strip sack, but call me crazy.. I prefer my cornerbacks to be good in coverage, especially going up against someone like Peyton Manning. I hate Coleman, but I have faith in Rex to come up with the right packages to use him and the rest of the d-backs.
Fixed your post. But yeah, I hate Coleman every play until his eventual sack/force fumble/pressure on the QB. That's his best role. He's too small and incapable of being a coverage corner.
Do you think that the CS are brave enough, or even whether it's the right move in the first place, to bring Cole into the nickel/dime slot in the playoffs? I can see the argument for it but if they did and Cole got carved up we'd never hear the end of it from some people.
