This is what it comes down to... which option would you choose? Me personally I would take Burress in a flash.

The Jets have around $13M in cap space and need to sign Sanchez and extend Leon's contract. That doesn't leave room for a star WR. Braylon makes around $5M a year, that won't fit. The Jets are just going to have to go with what they have got.

the $13M number takes into account the extended cap room. most of the cap increase has been expected for a long time, and has therefore been taken into account. there was something like $1M added recently to the cap taking the jets from 12M to 13M...

You are absolutely correct. The cap increase only added somewhere around $985,000 to our cap room. $13M is the current estimate, as you said. This is why I think Matt Jones or Burress would be the only possible options

Edwards wants to much money, they want to much and he drops to many passes. Boldin is as going to want to much money and cost alot. Jones is the cheapest and has upside. Take away the drug issue and jones is what we need. Brad smith is almost a waste of a spot

While this may be a both nit-picky and off-topic it really bothers me when people say "to" when they actually mean "too".

On topic: Personally I like Braylon, "the dropsies" are curable but he has size, speed, and resilience (not to mention elite body control) . I don't think we could manage to fit him into our cap this year though with Sanchez' contract still pending.

*PS* Yes, I am a Michigan Wolverines fan which is why I have D-Harris as my avatar. (Braylon is also a Michigan man)

I don't know why everybody thinks Braylon can just "fix" his problem with dropping passes. Remember Chuck Knoblauch, who won gold gloves in baseball, couldn't make a throw from 2nd base to 1st base at the end of his career. It is a mental thing, and it isn't always as fixable as people make it out to be. I'm not saying it can't be fixed, but it certainly isn't a given. See: Justin McCareins

I'm not saying a plane-ride to New York is going to magically make him stop dropping passes... However, it is one of the more coach-able aspects of being a wide-receiver. Size (height), Speed, Agility... once these guys get to the NFL level, those aspects can't be tweaked very much... Body control is a natural thing and very difficult to teach. Technique for catching passes, especially when a guy like Braylon HAS had success at the position, can be modified.

I am all for giving Stuckey, Clowney, Smith and Henry a chance to start. The only difference maker in the bunch who I would consider in Burress. That guy is animal and he is not a bad guy like TO, he is just stupid.

That was my point with Knoblauch. The guy won ROTY and gold gloves, but he made a few silly throwing errors to first base and then his game never recovered. He was considered one of the best fielding 2nd basemen in the game before he could no longer throw the ball over to 1st base. I understand what you are saying about catching being coach-able, but I don't think his technique is what needs tweaking. I believe his problem is mostly mental, where he thinks too much about catching the ball, rather than it just come naturally. I've seen the guy make some great catches so I'm not doubting that he can, he just needs to overcome this mental block (which can be very difficult or impossible for some athletes)

Burress makes the most sense financially, is a proven star at the position and he knows what it's like to play in NY so no learning curve there.

I think the Jets are staying hush until after the upcoming June court date but continue to focus their efforts on him. He doesn't impact draft picks, salary cap or anything else that the other WR's under consideration may compromise.

Burrass is my #1 wish but Jones would be #2. Big upside and would come cheap. Really not much of a risk if you ask me. Could only work in our favor.

I voted Plaxico since he doesn't require a trade but there's always that problem of him possibly going to jail.

If he does go to jail, I vote Braylon Edwards in a heart beat.

I voted B.Edwards.....i understand he's wants a boat load of money and has issues with dropped passes.

But we have an excellent cap wizard running the show....and the "drop passes" is coachable.

Edwards makes the most sense to me in the long run for this team, IMO.....he's a big, fast target that our new QB needs now and in the forseeable future....plus Edwards is still well under the age of 30.

If they let this guy go (Antonio Bryant/Tampa Bay Bucs).....I think we could get a quality reciever and not have to pay the "prima donna price tag"

Simple go get Braylon Edwards , offer drew coleman , eric smith , brad smith and eric ainge for Edwards and the browns 1st! ( sarcasm!!)

But on a serious note trade thomas, b smith and our 2nd and we should have the cap space to do the deal
