The past few games the networks have shown the stat when leading by 8 or more in the 4th quarter they have won. Does anybody know the last loss. I know its up to 59 now after yesterdays victory.
Without researching the scores over the years and going strictly by memory I will guess that last loss would have been the 21-20 loss to the Eagles in December 1996. The Jets were leading 20-7 in the fourth quarter. That was 13 years ago. That would seem about right. I don't remember any big fourth quarter collapses by Parcells, Edwards, or Mangini......
When they flashed it I told people to call Fatcessa w/that stat. and ftr, If it was the Philly game, I was there Eric Allen....ugh.
on the other hand i don't think miami or the bills have ever been winning by 8pts in the 4th qtr for 59 games......!!!!
The Eric Allen game was a disaster but that was in '93. Another huge blown lead which was usual with Coslet coached teams.......hmy: In '94 there was the fake spike game. And there were quite a few during the Kotite error '95-'96...the last would have been the '96 Philadelphia game. I can't remember any after that but I could be wrong. But 59 consecutive wins after leading by 8 or more in the 4th quarter would seem to coincide with 13 seasons judging by the Jets won/loss records since then........ it would of been hard for the Jets to blow a lead like that in the fourth quarter after CM arrived......
beat me to it!!! Yeah, I'm pretty sure we are right on here. That game still gives me nightmares. Tim Brown . . .
Yeah, I realized that after posting last night. I remember the score being 23-3 and losing in the final seconds 24-23. That game started our problems out in Oakland for the next three years........
