I think that the fact that people are saying Kellen is going to puh Chad in camp-along with maybe bringing in another capable veteran, will only make Chad and this team better. For example, look at the Giants. They have absolutely no backup-nobody to push Eli, so he is comfortable (knows he will never get benched for Lorenzen). And look how bad he is. I think when an athlete has someone on his own team to compete with it makes him that much better (look at chad this yr). This is why Mangini is good, he creates competition at virtually every position.
Elegant Eli is the best quarterback of a generation! Nobody can possibly compete with him! That is why the Giants are becoming a dynasty!
Eli looks like he doesn't even want to play, but his dad is forcing him too. Honestly, is his life/job that horrible that he has to just mope around all the time?!~
I never saw anything special out of Eli "The lofter" Manning. I wondered what is the love affair with this guy..... Ahh the Name "Manning?. What about Chris "They took my spleen" Simms, same results. Pedigree?s mean absolutely nothing. As for Chad being pushed in training camp, well Ill believe that when I read that! We truly don?t have anyone on this roster that can push Chad at this point .period!
Chad doesn't necessarily need to be pushed, IMO. He pushes himself to a large degree, much moreso than an Eli Manning, by comparison. But that's if you want to compare them, which is kind of like comparing apples and papayas. But nor would I assume Kellen Clemens is no push for Chad. Pennington's no fool and realizes Clemens was drafted for a reason. But I think, having seen the dedication with which Chad approaches his job, that the thing that'll be pushing Chad Pennington more than anything is not necessarily the shadow of Clemens looking over his shoulder, but the looming shadow of the approaching twightlight of his career. Let's face it. Time is running out. Chad knows the next few years for him is his shot, period, no matter who TF is looking over his shoulder. And if he gets injured one more time on the same tear, it's lights out, party over, no matter who is behind him. This is not necessarily such a bad thing for the Jets, IMO. If you were gonna have anyone in this situation, Penny is the best kind of guy to have because he's smart enough to know this is it and now is his time to shine and turn it on. If anybody can perform above his anticipated level next year, only a fool would bet against Pennington now, after the way he's come back so far. His shoulder can only get stronger in the offseason and he certainly has the knowledge and smarts to win out in one more TC. But the thing that will push him to really excel this year is going to be the realization that there very well could be no more seasons for him after 2007, and this is gonna be the thing that really makes Chad perform well this year. My prediction: Clemens remains on the bench.
I agree-there is nobody on the roster that will even come close to pushing Chad in camp-but maybe we sign a capable veteran.
Clemens is a huge question mark, from what I've seen. Shott's offense is very complex, and there's no way Clemens knows it better than Chad. That being said, I want to see Clemens get lots of looks during the regular season. He should get a drive a game, just for experience, and the 4th quarter when Chad has put the other guys away.
I don't necessarily agree with your first sentence but I would also like to see Clemens get as many snaps as possible.
Eli Manning shows no heart in his facial expressions...You're right..it's like his dad told him he HAD to play football. If that guy was the leader of my team, I'd be pissed.
Thats the big thing we have seen nothing from this kid; Not because he sucks but because we have a capable Starting quarter back. The only way Kellen is seeing any time is with an injury to chad. Do you guys remember the year Hassleback ripped up the preseason and they were whispering about Farve looking over his sholder. Anything is possible , plausable no. possible yes!
I wonder how many QB's in history could have produced if given the chance but never got out of the starter's shadow long enough to get the chance?
Thats a real good question ,Ill bet Steve young would have been concussed out of the league sooner if he didnt play so many years behind Big Joe the 2nd.
Hi Champ, You know, I was thinking exactly that when he threw them. One of them had so much hang time and such an arch, it too forever to come down. The defenders were literally licking their chops. Chicago goes nowhere with Grossman, IMO.
Eli Manning should be the poster child for why NOT to bundle picks near the top. We should plaster his sorry face on every wall of the FO, as a reminder of how screwed the Giants are for years to come. And to think... the old man didn't want him to play for San Diego. What an @sshole, and Ernie Accorsi is just as bad.
Just like we will only go so far with CP for the same reasons. I to could not believe there was another lollipop thrower in the league as I watched them drifting thru the air. Anybody that knows FB should now understand why a strong armed QB is needed if we ever want to smell the promised land
Rex Grossman DOES have a strong arm, he just threw a couple of really bad passes in the rain. Perhaps you missed all those bombs he was throwing in the beginning of the year. It just goes to show that even with a strong arm, QB's make bad passes.
