Per rotoworld Not sure how much to read into the statement; nevertheless, the thought of the [EDIT] Skins having Luck fall to them at #2 is very intriguing.
My opinion is that Luck and Griffin will both be stars, so I wouldn't really fault the Colts either way. But I think Luck is slightly more of a sure thing, and that gives him the edge over Griffin for me.
It'd be crazy if the Colts found themselves in the middle of another Manning/Leaf decision-- one's a mega bust and the other a HOFer.
Tough choice here, my gut tells me RG3 has the tools to exploit the match-ups, but the Colts have got to get this right. I just dont see them "risking" it -if you will. This is a critical decision for the Colts. Not only did they cut ties with a seemingly healthy Manning they are now faced with having to choose the new guy. IMO Washington has the premier pick this year.
It is most likely though as I believe the clip in the OP suggests that, the Colts are just trying to create the possibility that they are going after the guy that the Redskins want, to maybe get a deal out of them if they pick the other guy. Like the Rivers and Manning deal.
Didn't Irsay pull the same bullshit when he "hadn't made up his mind" about the Manning decision? Suuure, I believe him...
Perhaps a shrewed move is in the making. Dan Snyder has been known to overpay and over reach. I dont remember the specifics of the trade but they surely cant have much more room to move around in the next 2 drafts. Not that the Redskins value draft picks anyways.
There is NO WAY, I mean NO WAY, the Redskins even entertain the thought of switching with the Colts. The Redskins are set with the #2 no matter what happens with Indy.........
Yea i doubt anything will actually happen and it will probly end up going how most expect. Luck the Griffin But it is understandable the the Colts who are holding all the cards wouldnt show there hand as a buisness decision. They have no reason not to make people wonder/inquire.
Oh I realize that and like I said- the Redskins have the premier pick. But the Redskins dont value draft picks like most franchises do. It wouldnt be the most shocking thing to see yet another draft day come and go with very few players added to their roster.
most likely just a negotiating tact in case there are issues with getting a contract done with Luck but with the new rookie pool that seems much less likely, besides Luck is the only one scheduled for a visit to Indy.
There's no value for the Colts in tipping their hand right now. In the last CBA they'd probably have been maneuvering for contract terms right up until the last minute. In the current CBA there isn't really any way to do that. Luck is going to try to get a 4 year deal with no option and the Colts would like to get him for longer than that.
The Colts are just making noise. As previous posters said, Washington is in the perfect position as they get whoever the Colts don't pick, most likely RGIII.
I disagree that NOT having to make a decision is the perfect position. Thats weak. The Colts are in the perfect position because they have the option of either QB, or anyone or almost anything for that matter.
