OK.. Lets assume Rex gets fired at the end of the season.. We all say we wan't a new coach but who the hell are we going to get that could possibly be better than Ryan?

Gruden - Would take too much money and doubt he want's to leave broadcasting.

Cowher - My top choice but wants to be around his family more which is why he retired in the first place. Don't think he is coming back to coaching.

Nick Saban - No chance in hell he goes to a Jets team with all of these holes.. He want's a Super Bowl ready team, and is waiting patiently for that opportunity.

Those are pretty much the only options I can think of that would be better than Rex...

I am hoping for one of the following:

    Bruce Coslet
    Rich Kotite
    Al Groh
    Lou Holtz

David Shaw from Stanford. Has an NFL backround and is an offensive coach. Both Idzik and Graves have a relationship with Ken Whisenhunt.

Have you looked around the forum lately? I am just discussing options relax. I am fine with Rex, but most here are not.

At this point a lot of the people in this fan base deserve ol' Richie back. I'd much rather ride with Rex and allow him the time to get the team back on track.

Can we at least get through one regular season game before we start making threads like this?

    So dumb.

I am not saying Rex should be fired... I am merely asking opinion on the other coaching options that are out there..

Yes Cowher. I'd love to see this fan base wait 13 years for him to build a Super Bowl ready team. lmao.... He'd be run out of town in 15 minutes just like every other coach that gets hired here does.

I'd rather take my chances and stick with what we have. We could do a lot worse than Rex Ryan and not much better. Andy Reid coached for 13 years? 14 Years? He brought a lot of success to a team that was shit for a long time. I'd very happy with that.

So you can endlessly defend them too?

If Rex is canned after the year. And I have a feeling he will...

I don't want any of the guys on your list. I want some young up and coming guy we don't know much about. I also want an offensive minded coach. It's been over a decade since this team had a coach that comes from the offensive side of the ball and it shows on the field.

reid couldn't happen here, he'd be run out of town. The Giants almost fired Coughlin TWICE- once after 2006 and again after 2010 and both times they won SBs after it. Cowher coached over 10 years before winning a SB, sometimes we need patience. Continuity is a good thing sometimes but our fanbase will never allow it to happen.

Perhaps someone should start a thread asking for predictions on next year's roster too. That would be awesome.

Continuity is a result (a by-product) of winning, not a cause.

This will be Rex's third non-winning season in a row.. presumably all getting worse... That will get you fired in any city.

Wow Junc, you've lost it dude

I really don't want to see Rex fired, not after what is a rebuild year, and how could they? They (FO) would look even more idiotic than they already do now after firing Tanny and not Rex as well.
But if he was fired, I agree with you, go up and coming

If we do get rid of the current Rex Ryan, then I'd like to have fat Rex Ryan back.

IMHO, there's a higher chance that Rex will be extended than fired this season. Of course, I am of the opinion that the Jets will not only outperform the meager expectations for this season, but will also be in the hunt. Mark my words...

Anyways, if Ryan was canned this year, the front office will probably look to either promote Morningwhig, or look to the college ranks for fresh ideas. It's hard to imagine that either Idzik or Woody would sign off on some retread coach, given how much the offenses (and defenses) are evolving.
