Didn't see this posted anywhere: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...s-wants-to-start-knows-he-wont-with-the-jets/ "There's no future for me here starting, that's clear," Clemens told Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com. "There's a future for one guy here to star and play and that's Mark [Sanchez], and that's why they drafted him. And he's a very talented quarterback. So I'm not at the point where I'm willing to give up my dream of having a chance to play and start." There's more to the article.. basically he wants to have a chance to start somewhere else and isn't thrilled with being the jets backup. I wish the Jets could get a late round pick for this guy and sign someone like Brunell or Bulger for a year and groom Ainge as the eventual primary backup.
and i wanna be so rich that when i cheat i can claim that it is sex addiction but it's just not gonna happen for me.
and i wanna fuck megan fox. the only difference betweeen me and him is i can jerkoff about her and get satisfied,he can only hold a clipboard and sulk.
still being young and having the taste of being a started in in mouth you cant expect him wanting anything less even though he probably lacks the talent to do it. him being a class act and always doing his best to help this team i hope he can go to a place where he can at least compete for a starting job
Agreed, can't blame the guy for ambition but I'm not aware of him ever having been anything other than supportive, hardworking and willing to do whatever is asked. Good luck to him, but as he rightly surmises his chances of starting here are very small.
Kind of a non article here. Of course all backups dream of starting. Do we expect them to say...."I will always be a backup...and I LOVE IT!!!!"
People can laugh all they want, but Clemens would be the prohibitive favorite for starting jobs in Oakland and Cleveland, and Buffalo, and he'd have the opportunity to compete in Carolina. Don't forget Pittsburgh either. Come Monday, a starting job might open up in the Steel City. -X-
I don't think Clemens would be able to beat out Ryan Fitzpatrick or Bruce Gradkowski in a real QB competition.
Clemens will be lucky to sign on a team as a number three. Aigne would surpass Clemens this year and Eric has an upside while Clemens hit the wall long ago.
Maybe, maybe not, but he'd certainly be in the mix. He has a superior arm and similar mobility, and his numbers aren't radically different. -X-
Say what you will but he's been a good soldier while here. Between riding the Pine for Chad, coming in for a few games, expecting to start, signing Favre and now Sanchez, he's had alot of "alone time" on the sidelines. I'm sure that other players might have at least stirred the shit, complaining that they weren't seeing any meaningful time in games. That being said, he's at a 6th round tender right? I find it very odd that no team is willing to part with a 6th rounder for a guy like Clemens.
The Jets tendered Clemens as original round tender (2nd), but since Leon and Brad Smith got the 2nd round tender, his gets pushed back to 3rd round compensation.
