Did we all hear his comments on the FAN? He says he doesnt know if he can go through another one of Manginis camps. Only a superbowl victory would have made all that hard work worthwile".....Im not saying this is a huge deal, but I think if Randy Moss or T.O had said this all the coles lovers on this site would be calling them cancers. thoughts?
I think the thing is Coles will still go out and play as hard as he can and give 100 percent. I dont think Moss or Owens would do that. I dunno, I feel like what Coles says and what he does are two different things.
Eh... I give him a pass... he came off a tough loss and had his bell rung a bunch of times ... i'm sure he'll be fine
also mangini will prob not be as tough mostly he was starting from scratch now every one except the rooks will be on the same page
I dont get either dude...I was shocked(exaggerating) when I heard it...half hour ago...he also said hes not looking forward to camp...its too tough??? wtf?
He has made so many borderline comments like that, I'm not sure how to take it. I don't think he means anything by it, just that he wanted all the hard work to pay off.
Mangini better learn not to push his stars so much so early. These guys wear down enough during the season. They don't need the extra work in TC and preseason. Look at Sd. Tomlinson might as well not report until week 1. Look how fresh he looked in in the second half of the season.
This really shocked me but I have cooled off about it over the past few minutes. Coles gives 100% every time he is on the field and has played through so many various injuries this year. He probably shouldn't have made the comments but he was tired after a long season and he probably didn't even want to think about having to go through that camp again. Give him a month or two to heal and I bet he comes back with a little attitude. Coles will never be the perfect player off the field but at least he gives 100% every time he steps on the field.
i think he would have had his tongue firmly in his cheek then, im not worried...he will still come out and play hard.
Coles is a really good player but he has always been and always will be a malcontent. Don't be shocked if this is about money. It always is with him.
Coles shouldn't be mouthing off to the press about this kind of crap. If he has a problem with it he should either suck it up and do his job or talk it over with Mangini.
I think he had like 20 concussions this season but never told to the trainers and medical staff saying that he just got his air banged out of him cause he really took hits this season, so I think that is the result of some frustration but he will be back he is Chad's biggest friend on the field.
He's been getting laid out all year long... they lost yesterday, what do you expect him to say when asked about next years training camp... common now... Ellis
Yep. He's going to want a contract upgrade when the Jets do the Cotchery extension. I have no idea if he'll get it or not. After that situation is handled (or not depending) he'll be mouthing off in training camp about the punishment drills again. Here's the kicker: he's the best and toughest receiver the Jets have had since Keyshawn Johnson and they're very likely to take a step back on offense if he's not there next year. I expect Mangini to handle the entire situation with kid gloves and bend a bit when he has to. He's got very good instincts when it comes to people.
I was afraid Coles might feel this way. Coles was right on that edge of looking like a malcontent in training camp last year... it wasnt until the Jets started winning that all of a sudden, he and Mangini were buddies. A lot has been said of Coles' toughness, and hes even said that its a point of pride for him to keep playing when other players might quit. 80 or so players are going to go to training camp under Eric Mangini, and odds are, theyll all survive the summer. So for Coles to make a scene, or demand a trade, or anything like that, because he thinks Training Camp is 'Too hard', would be a pretty big role reversal. I can see how he would feel like this coming off a loss like yesterdays. Two days ago he was looking forward to the Super Bowl, now hes looking forward to a grueling summer of 2 a days. That would get anybody down. Anyway, I would bet that Mangini will ease it up a little bit this year. Maybe not much, but some. Last year, he had to worry about weeding out the players who were too weak or not committed enough to play for him, remember this was a roster that had been in 'Camp Herm' for the last half decade. Now he pretty much knows what hes got, he doesnt have to weed out anything.
