Watching SNY at about 5:20 this evening and when they were talking about trying to get Weis here for our OC, and Cimini said he didnt think that would happen but he seems to get the feeling that Shotty may be looking to go else where after this season. Thats based on "reading between the lines" on some comments made. Dont know where this will go or if it is something that is brewing, just though Id put it out there as this is one first comments that I have heard that there may be more shake-ups on the offense. I would hope Callahan gets the first crack at the job myself.
i've been reading Cimini on-line a lot this year. The more I read, the more I get why no one takes him seriously. I do think Schotty is on his way out though. No one should need color signals from the HC if the OC didn't have his head directly up his anus.
What are you talking about? Cimini is the best, most accurate beat writer the Jets have. He's NEVER wrong about anything. (ok, this emote really doesn't do my extreme sarcasm justice...lol)
Charlie W It seems probable that he'd get a coordinator job somwhere. Why not here, if Schotty is gone. (Jets would not make total sense -- but he could wind up in Cleveland?)
Why not ? - because if people are bashing Shotty for running a too cute offense what do you think Charlie would do. Have you not seen ND squander games this year because Weis refused to run and ice games that were destined for wins. Charlie was good at NE and ND when he had all the tools at his disposal- especially QB/WR . I'd contend he'd actually be a step back from Shotty with our current team makeup.
Weis goes to NE if he goes anywhere. Brady was at his bedside when he was sick, and is like a father to him. I can't see him anywhere but NE. I do think Schotty might be out though at the end of the year.
Man, if I were Cleveland I would stay away from the Belichik coaching tree. Counting his overall poor performance leading to him being run out of town, throw in Crennel and now Mangini. The last thing they'd need is Weis coming to town. If Shotty leaves I would absolutely be all in for Callahan getting the job...
Good to see you Big, however ND has lost most of their games because of their defense being ranked 89th in the country, they give up over 300 yards a game, and that's not all his fault, I mean you can only recruit so many good defensive players, especially since they all go to bigger name schools that do not emphasize education like ND.
How true....but if it starts poppin up more often from different sources and we dont get any definitive comments either way from within the jets, maybe there will be a change.
He is not going back to work for Brady he is going back to work for Bellicheck, its not Brady that will make that decision. Oh by the way is there something wrong with NE offense this year. ND has a devastasting offense this year.
Rex and Callahan have been buddy buddy this past couple of weeks on the sidelines. Whenever the Jets head in at half time; if you watch, you will almost certainly see Callahan and Rex talking heading into the locker room. I think Callahan is attempting to work his way into Rexs' good graces because he knows Shotty is on his way out. This guy runs a solid O-Line, but honestly, how much can he know about play calling and everything that goes along with being an OC? I'm weary about this...
I dont know. Listening to the consensus of most of these writers/analysts seems to be that Weis and Beli are still really close and that Beli's dislike for the Jets puts us off limits. Doesn't mean he wouldn't take the job....if offered, just highly unlikely. I would prefer to stay away from Weis myself.
If anything Cavanaugh might have the in with Rex, due to the fact that they won a SB together and Cavanaugh was the OC at the time, he also had a lot less offense to work with especially at the QB and WR positions.
They should've went to this color crap in week 1, not week 11. I was on board to keep Schotty but now I'm leaning the other way. Just like the fans got excited after the fast start I think Schotty jumped the gun a little bit with his play calling thereafter.
