In Serby's Series of Softballs, Clemens mentioning wanting to ahve dinner with, among others, Chris LeDoux. I wondered who Clemens felt good enough about to openly dis Jesus and Michelangelo, and here's his data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_LeDoux.

My question, only tangentially related to jets football, is what does this say about Clemens? By the way, his other two choices were George Patton and George Washington. I mean, one could make an argument that Clemens was one right arm injury from becoming some sort of militia cult leader, no?

Wow you must be retarded. Just because he wants to have dinner with two of the greatest leaders of all time does not make him a war fanatic. He's a f'cking quarterback for crying out loud, he is supposed to be a leader. Is it not natural for him to respect the greatest generals of all time? Maybe he can take what they did on the battle field and bring it to the turf.

I'm sorry but that metaphor is so ridiculous and played out. Were talking about multi-millionaires in a sports business; there are no dead children, missing limbs or mass exodus of displaced refugees happening during these competitions... There is a contest between two teams in a sport competition...

Personally some people might like to have him idealizing generals, but since it's a thinking man's position, I'd prefer maybe a philosopher or two, astro-physicist or hey, maybe even an accomplished medical researcher...

Chris Ldoux was a singer songwriter who was well respected. He died a few years back from a liver disease.

I think Clemens is interested in the art of motivating men to perform when things aren't so easy and quite as obvious. Leadership has nothing to do with mayhem, it has to do with victory.

A couple of years ago Garth Brooks had a hit single with a single ABOUT Chris LeDoux. It was a tributed to him after he died.

The guy was highly respected as a songwriter.

I don't get the point of this thread...If you are white, listen to country music, and admire American heroes and figures like Patton and Washington, you must be a member of a militia? WTF?

philosophers, astro-physicists and medical researchers aren't generally known for their poise under pressure, ability to make split second decisions or talent for leading a band of men towards a common goal whilst facing opposition.

the comparison of sports to war is quite appropriate as long as you keep things in perspective about how terrible war truly is.

Let see if I can translate.

Clemens was asked which 3 people he would like to dine with. He answered George Washington, Gen. Patton, and Chris LeDoux.

From what I gather, vilmatic is pissed Clemens did not pick his 3 favorites...Jesus, Michelangelo, and any non-military leader or President.

Apparently, even though KC is a devout Catholic whose baby was blessed by the Pope, not having Jesus in his Fave 5 cell list is "dissing" him.

And wanting to have dinner with the 1st President and a war hero General, makes him somebody who is obsessed with war. So, if Clemens injures his arm he will move to the U.P. of Michigan and start a whacked out militia force.

MOstly, I was jsut saying, what an odd trio to pick - the militia comment was a throwaway. But hey, you never can tell what direction a thread is going to go.

In your defense... this thread was somehow more enjoyable than the countless Favre speculation ones going around.
