If I recall correctly didn't wayne redo his contract a year or so ago. When he redid it I thought I remembered the jets and him agreeing to putting a injury clause in it. The clause being if he has to retire due to a head related injury which he did the money left on his contract would be nullified because the contract would be voided. I may just be dreaming here so let me know if anyone knows anything about this. What I am getting at in any matter is the following? With Wayne retiring does it save us any money on the cap? Has wayne offically reitired? If so does our current cap number reflect his retirement?

Let me know if anyone knows the answers thanks.

I think you are right about the injury clause.

You know I forgot ALL about this but you are right. I remembered it as soon as I read what you mentioned.

I had Chrebet with 2.87M of dead cap money, but now I am thinking I was wrong.

I will begin researching immediately because I clearly remember this.

    I found out more information.

There is NO REDUCTION for the concussion:

Chrebet's retirement will have salary-cap implications, the Daily News reported. By rule, the Jets don't have to file the papers until after June 1, 2006, allowing them to spread the cap hit over 2006 and 2007. The cap charge will be $958,000 and $1.9 million, respectively. Chrebet was scheduled to count $2.3 million in '06, so they'll actually save $1.3 million.

When the Jets renegotiated Chrebet's contract in 2004, they included a "concussion clause" that entitled them to reduce his salary if he went on injured reserve with a concussion, the Daily News reported. That clause, however, isn't in effect this year, costing them a potential savings of $250,000.
