Just reported on the NFL Today on CBS. I'm looking for some more info on this. He didn't elaborate at all. I have no idea what this means.
Casserly on CBS says Chad will be back in 2008 Not sure if you guys are watching the CBS pre-game show, but Casserly said both McNabb and Pennington will be back with their respective clubs in 2008 I don't buy it completely, but just food for thought
Yeah, I just saw it too. Maybe that just meant the Jets aren't going to release him. He has trade value, if someone offers a pick for him then why wouldn't the Jets accept... However, Mangini might want someone to compete with Clemens next season and does not have complete faith in Clemens yet.
Of course they would say he's going to be back, if the Jets said he were to be traded his value would drop b/c the team wouldn't have any leverage any more. If he's still on the roster come TC then I will believe it but the offseason is still very young.
Chad can be a solid backup. Why do alot of you want him gone? Yes, i can see why he should not start, but every team needs a solid backup. Depth is key.
Yeah that is pretty interesting. I once envied the Raiders organization, Al Davis needs to step down.
Because this team has to move on. I genuinely liked Chad Pennington and wish things would have worked out better. But this team badly needs to turn the page on the Pennington era.
Based off the performance of Clemens this season, I could see why the Jets would want Chad to remain on the team, even though he may not be an upgrade.
i have been officially on the clemens wagon since day one but even i am not terribly surprised at this possibility. clemens, in general, did not show much to the naked eye.....but the framework is there and its up to the jets to corral it. i would imagine CP cap number is hefty in 08 but it may be worth it for stability and to avoid having to either draft or recruit a FA QB. jil
Writing off a QB after less than a half year as a NFL starter? Whatever. Doing that in a year with a very weak QB class...horrible
If he is back I would be glad to have him, as he could be a solid back-up, and maybe, just maybe a good starter as well (you never know what could happen to Kellen). However, I would definitely be happy if we received a high draft pick for him.
