I for one am very confident if we start him next season. I tihnk he is still very capable of running a football team on the field. And now with having almost and entire year to recover, he should be a very solid starter.

If we do sign runyan than we will have a pretty decent o line, good enough to start running for gains again

Positives of starting chad and signing runyan:
    - dont need to draft D Brick
    - dont need to draft Cutler
-------that opens us up to either pick maybe Mario Williams (if hes there) or aj hawk
    - or trade our 4 for a later 1st rounder and their 2nd rounder and take lendale white/deangelo/drew

the main thing i want to get out of this draft is a successor to Curtis Martin

would anyone have a problem with starting chad? it would improve our drafting greatly if we knew we could count on him.

and i dont want responses just saying "Chad Sucks" or "His arm is a water pistol"

I wouldn't have a problem starting Chad as long as he proves he is ready to start. I don't think we should draft a QB, at least not at #4. I also think Ramsey can beat out Chad for the starting job.

I like Chad. I really do. I would like to see him come back, but he has only played in 3 games in the last 21 months. I think Chad will be a lot rustier than we think. But, the playing field will be equal since a new offensive system has to be learned.

I tihnk the jets are going to do exactly what they need to to get chad ready to play again, and if he gets back to where he was in 2002-2004 ( the good times) than we well be a contender much sooner than some believe

I think its obvious that the best chance this team has of winning anything meaningful any time soon is with Pennington returning to his old form and leading this team. Thats why I think itd be foolish to spend the #4 on a quarterback this year. Add a guy like D'brick or Mario Williams, theyre gauranteed to contribute to this team winning very quickly. Draft Leinart or Cutler, and if Pennington comes back healthy, then one of two very talented players is going to be riding the bench, neither of which is very easily tradeable.

I really think Ramsey is going to be the guy.

I have nothing against Chad, and would be absolutely thrilled if somehow, someway he could come back and return to his old form.

The realist in me says there is just no way that will happen. I honestly think his arm is shot at this point and he will be nothing more than a servicable backup for the duration of his career.

I could see him stepping in (somewhere) one day and possibly pulling a Tommy Maddox circa 2002-2003, but I think even THAT may be a long shot.

I would rather have a guy out there that I know is going to pop up after a big hit, (and can get the ball down field in a hurry) than a guy who is going to make me wince and close my eyes every time he falls to the turf.

First off, you dont seem to understand that its almost impossible to come back after TWO torn rotator cuffs.

And second off we have a successor in the making. His name, Cedric Houston.
Did you catch our final 5 or 6 games last season?

    QB1 - Chad Pennington
    QB2 - Patrick Ramsey
    QB3 - Brooks Bollinger

What organization has no QB? The Jets are fine for 2006. Evaluate Chad and Pat. If neither performs we're going to have a high pick again, and can draft a potential franchise QB in 2007.

Ramsey has all the potential in the world and could very well become our franchise QB.

Lets sit back and give the guy a shot before completely writing him off. Most people aren't even taking him into account.

Ramsey is not terrible hes a decent strong armed qb who can scramble.Give Ramsey the opportunity and watch and see what happens. He might make recievers out of a very weak group.

    Patrick Ramsey

    4 years in the league.

    24 starts. 55.7 completion % 5649 yards 34TDs 29INTs QB rating of 75.

Not bad numbers for a guy who was never properly coached and has played behind some suspect offensive lines.

Doesn't sound like he's "terrible" to me.

Yes, the guy hasn't put up SICK numbers, but look at the situation he was in.

All I'm saying is give him a chance. He may surprise us.

Obviously im willing to give him a chance because he may be the best qb on our team right now.

If we can protect Chad and he is give enough time to come back (which wasn't the case last year), he can be a solid starter again. I don't know if he'll be as good as he was in his first few years.
