Jets | Houston limited in practice Thursday Thu, 21 Dec 2006 13:04:09 -0800 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets RB Cedric Houston (calf) returned to practice Thursday, Dec. 21, and will likely remain questionable for Week 16. Houston missed some of the team's 11-on-11 drills while RB Kevan Barlow got some work in with the first team. Maybe this will allow leon to get some more carries. But if Barlow comes out there, I will puke.
Barlow Will Be Active (Could Replace Houston) Kevan Barlow will be active Sunday if Cedric Houston (calf) can't play. Jets coach Eric Mangini said Wednesday that Houston "didn't do anything" in practice, and Houston was listed as having missed a portion of team drills again on Thursday. Barlow would likely be in line for the goal-line carries on Monday night if Houston is declared inactive.
The thing is, Houston has been getting the carries and Barlow has not. Still, Barlow's had enough carries in his career, so with enough practice this week...
What are you referring to, man? His latest against Minnesota, the stingiest of all run defenses? I'd say he had a pretty good day against those @ssholes.
Well this is his last chance on making this team. He busts loose on the Dolphins defense I'll be impressed.
that why houston will never be a feature back.. the only 1 consisstant thing he has shown is the ability to be hurt every few games.
The bright spot in this is that Mangini will probably give Leon the load like back in the Jax and Detriot games. When he gets 20 carries he busts loose. But if he gives barlow anything more than goal-line situations, I'm gonna be pissed. Barlow is just trash. I like the Leon/Houston combo, but have not liked how mangini has been using it. Way to many carries to houston, not enough to washington.
im not talking about the vikings game even though he didnt look good at all against them. what about the week before the vikings game? you know the game against the bills a.k.a "the worst run defense in football". houston hasnt looked any better than barlow. he had ONE good game (against the packers, another horrible run defense) just like barlow (vs the pats)
He had one good game against a Detroit team that was missing its entire DL (and even with a healthy DL, the run defense is still horrible). He's a nice change of pace, but let's relax with all the "Washington not getting enough carries" stuff. This isn't a big deal, the difference between Barlow and Houston is minimal.
Thats being harsh on Cedric. He isn't a great back by any means but he is at least average and good down at the goal line. About 15 carries 8 yards and a touchdown if we get the ball at the 1 and its first and goal. At less its a rainy muddy day then Barlow is the best back on the team.
whatever. I'm okay with that... after Barlow got benched, he was all, "now i'll have time to heal my injuries." Well, he's had a couple o' weeks rest... SHOW UP!!!
I think Cedric has done a great job for the offense. He isnt the most talented running back but he gets the tough yards and is a guarantee for 3 or 4 yards if he runs up the middle. The problem is when they toss him the ball he is guaranteed to get hit behind the line.
again how can this not be the most glaring need on this team. our rbs our avg at best. and in blaylocks case useless.
