http://espn.go.com/nfl/conversations/_/id/6918581/sources-qb-carson-palmer-visited-bengals-late-july Interesting thoughts here regarding Palmer. It suggests that he may report to the Bengals by opening day. The Bengals would have no choice but to pay him or trade him. Interesting proposed tactic that may finally get Brown to figure out that success isn't bred by being a stubborn loser.
I hadn't read this anywhere. I had only heard that he was retiring, flat out. Could he report and do something like fake an injury, just to collect and "F" the Bengals?
I hope he does it. Mike Brown is one of the worst owners in pro sports, fucking clueless hack. Do it up Carson.
Carson basically has to do this. A huge fuck you for cutting Jordan, fucking him over and Brown being a general asshole retard.
If he comes back, they will start him. He sucks, has had no practice time, but he's still 10x better than what they have (Demon-Ginger).
That'd be the only way this makes any sense, cause otherwise he'd have to play. He'd collect a check yeah, but he'd also prove his threat of retirement was hollow and the Bengals were right to play hardball. And if that happened (the reporting and faking an injury), it'd be beneath him quite honestly and public opinion would turn swiftly against him.
After whats been said, I'm not sure they would start him. Lewis is a pawn and Brown is an idiot with a chip on his shoulder..
I find myself rooting for Palmer to pull a Haynesworth. Just show up out of shape, make it obvious you don't care and dog it on the field. Hell, if I were Palmer I would show up and play, but any time a defender got within 5 yards of me, I would just throw it away. Collect your money, force them to cut you, and go play for an organization that actually cares about winning.
Normally I would be against anyone not fulfilling their contract responsibilities, but considering this is the fuckin Bengals franchise I understand.
I had heard for a while that he was planning to sit out the year and then when the NFL has quotas on team spending that must be reached, he would show up and put the Bengals over the cap; thus forcing them to release him. But this entire situation reeks of Barry Sanders all over again and ultimately I would be surprised if it ends any differently.
Why do you think this when Brown has made it clear he's not trading him and he's stupid enough to follow through with it.
Because if he reports they have to begin paying him his huge salary. And do you think the cheap Bengals would be willing to pay him his salary to sit?
They will make him a starter. In my opinion Brown is too stupid to trade him. He's having a pissing contest with him. You could be right tho.
