The Texans have traded for Matt Schaub, a move that all but guarantees that David Carr will be elsewhere next season. The move pretty much confirms that the Texans are going to remain in the basement of the NFL for the next few seasons. Schaub is an ok prospect but the Texans fans are going to be howling when Carr turns out to be much better than Schaub at his next zipcode.

The question of what the Jets could get Carr for is now open for debate. It seems likely that the Texans will accept similar or less value to the 2nd round pick they gave up for Schaub, possibly even letting Carr go for a 4th.

why in Gods name would we want Carr on this football team?

  4. I wouldnt mind taking a shot at him, but I doubt the FO will go for it as they seem content w/ CP in the short term and grooming clemens for the long term.

Anyone in their right mind that thinks David Carr can hold a candle to Chad Pennington in the sport of football needs to go watch tennis or soccer because youre clueless

The one team that I think will pick him up is Miami... or possibly the Vikes

only because with the right coaching, he could be the best Qb on our roster. And seeing what Schott jr has done with other QBs he has coached, we might have the right coaching.

....and an O line that can stop him from being killed. Decent back up.

Heard that they're trying to package Carr & Draft picks to move up and possibly select Adrian Peterson.

Guess they shoulda drafted Reggie Bush last year.

Well...its not like Bush would do much good without some holes to run through...

Plus Peterson >>>>> Bush as a RB prospect.

I always thought they should have traded down and grabbed D'Brick, or at least used their second on Winston Justice.

David Carr and the 8th overall pick (Houston) for the 3rd overall pick (Cleveland). That would be a great trade for both teams.

As for us, not going to happen.

Oh wow, that would be a kickass trade for both sides.

Cleveland has really focused on the lines the past two years, and even though they lost Bentley their O-line definitely isn't bad by any means. I think it's solid all around.

With Winslow and Edwards to throw to, and probably a RB prospect (say AP falls, or they "reach" for Lynch) coming in...he'll have a nice amount of young weapons.

If Carr isn't cominh here I hope he goes to the Vikings or any team in the NFC for tha matter. I really believe that Carr will end up living up to his potential with his next team. I would hate for that team to be Miami.

honestly, i would love david carr to be our starting QB...i'd like one more year with chad, give him his fair chance, and if he doesn't make a big improvement, hand it over to david carr...he might not be the leader chad is, but he is much more mobile, tougher, and has a nice strong arm, something we haven't seen in a while...frankly, i think a mobile QB would add a lot more to schotty's offense, with the threat of pulling it down and running it himself, and i'm sure the coaches would be able to think of creative ways to utilize his strengths

This kind of reminds me of the aura around Patrick Ramsey last year. Very similar arguements could be made for both guys as to why they've both failed as starters up to this point.

As far as the 'right' coaching staff to coach him up, how did that work out with Ramsey? Exactly. He couldn't beat out Chad for the starting job and was eventually replaced by Clemens as the 2nd string.

    No thanks.

Houston is now picking 10th as part of the Schaub trade....

With that said moving from the 3rd overall pick to the 10th is the equivalent value of the 18th pick overall. No way would Cleveland do that for Carr....

Carr is in another league than Ramsey as far as talent goes. And Clemens never replaced Ramsey for #2 besides that one game, frankly that gives me some concern as to how the CS feels about Clemens progression..

Word has it that Phil Savage (Cleveland GM) has some serious manlove for Jemarcus Russell because they're both from Mobile and have known oneanother forever. Maybe Cleveland could offer the #3 and rights to Bernie Kosar to move up to #1. Crazy Al just might go for it.

carr got a royal shaft being drafted by the texans. i think the guy has the potential to be a very solid qb in this league.

if we could get him i wouldnt be against it one single bit, it would light a fire under penny and clemens ass. and i think carr would actually be able to compete with them.
