Hate to hear that, hopefully he's able to fully recover from that injury and live a healthy life going forward. That 2020 class looks pretty dreadful so far. At this point you're hoping we landed 2-3 starters (Becton, Hall, and Mann) and 1-2 depth pieces (Ashtyn & Mims) but the only one you really feel confident about is Hall. All of the others are very much question marks right now.
I think Hall is going to be the only player on the roster longer than 3 year. Mims, Davis, Mann were arguably the three worst players at their positions this season. Catastrophically bad class.
It definitely doesn't look good for those guys right now but we'll see. Still plenty of time for those guys to turn things around.
Mann will be fine and Hall is already very good. I hope Becton gets his shit together and if Mims has an epiphany this off-season then the class does not look horrible. My guess is Becton, Mann, and Hall will be good next season
Unfortunate. It can happen to any player at any time. No way does this draft compare to Idzik's monumental effort.
Draft does not look great, no matter how you slice it. Mann was our 3d best punter last year, and first year he was just OK, nothing great. He should have been an icing on a good draft, not a key player. A lot will depend on Becton. If he finally comes in shape and stays healthy, plays well, draft will not be the worst. Otherwise to be fair, the draft does not look great - with no production at all from key picks like Mims, Morgan, Clark, and others, plus Becton being a question mark after two seasons.
Out of the 2020 draft class: Becton has started. Mims has started. Hall has started. Davis has started. Mann has started. That's 5 starters in one draft! Sounds like a pretty good draft to me. And, JD also got 5 starters in year 2. The dude is amazing.
Sucks for Clark. The class is looking terrible. As far as Mann is concerned, he’s been ranked near the worst punters in the league for back to back years. Holding on to a guy like that is what bad franchises due. Finding a better mid-season and then cutting that player because you drafted the other guy is also what bad teams do.
He was a terrible draft pick for a team not known for developing players. At best the NYJ would have gotten him to some decent level and then let him go ala Winters or Ducasse. He was a pick doomed to failure for us and this is just the way it failed--but failure was inevitable.
Feel sorry for the man. Never really got to see his NFL dream realised, must honestly suck so much to have that taken away. Hope he makes a full recovery. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
that sucks he never got a chance but at least he made it, made a couple of million and can leave without being damaged so I feel bad for him but at the same time he's a young early 20s man who's made a few million and has a college degree so has a pretty nice life set up for him
There's no way that's possible. You obviously aren't a student of draft history. I suggest you go take a look at Idzik's draft, and some other awful drafts from the '70s and '90s.
In history? I find that hard to believe, given our history. I mean, we have several guys on the roster. But, damn you Joe D for not diagnosing Clark in college better. This should have been prevented/ s
I'd put this right up there with the Idzik draft. Highly possible we only end up with 1 NFL caliber player, just like that draft.
