I'm pretty sure MT won't allow that after the mess he had to clear up when he came into the job.

"The Jets, with guard issues, thought they had landed Woody last October before the trading deadline, but the Lions backed out at the 11th hour."

That's interesting, I didn't know that. It's kind of reassuring that the FO office wasn't completely resigned to playing Clarke and Bender all last year as I'd originally thought. They were out there, making moves, but the time wasn't right.

And now we've got Alan Faneca.

    Good business, Mikey T!

pace is not worth that kind of money. I really hope that the jets don't get him. Drafting Gholston would be just fine with me. The jets just need a RT at this point and should focus their time and money on olivea or woody.

There once was a time when I could get a slice of pizza, a soda and a small lemon ice for $1. Now a slice of Pizza is $2. Rising costs in everything is a part of life. Just thank God that player contracts in the NFL isn't the same as player contracts in the NBA.

I would suck even more knowing that a $20 million-a-year player's best contribution to the team is his expiring contract that comes off the books next year. Think about that!

Pace is good. Why do you think Parcells is going after him so hard. This would be a great signing for the Jets. He is an excellent 3-4 player.

Honestly, I don't watch a lot of Cardinals football, so I'm gonna have to plead ignorance in regard to Calvin Pace.

But the stats don't exactly blow me away.

14 sacks in 5 years? This is our big money edge rusher?

6.5 sacks in his "breakout" year?

Sounds like a Bryan Thomas clone, from the stats at least.

Any 'Zona Jets fans wanna clue me in on this Pace character?

guess if we sign PACE, that puts an end to us drafting GHOLSTON. unless they want to play him at DE. i've heard rumors that GHOLSTON may even go higher then 6

I've heard that the Bengals are interested in Pace as well. And Antwan Odom of the Titans has been rumoured to be visiting the Jets this weekend

Is he that good to warrant that kind of cash?!?!

I know he's young and upcoming, but to be honest, the Cards don't exactly get alot of coverage here (or probably anywhere outside Phoenix ;) so I can't give an honest opinion.

Will James visits Jets next week

"Free agent CB Will James will meet with the Jets next week.
James was an ineffective nickel back in Philadelphia before losing the position to Joselio Hanson, but he'll draw interest because he's big and talented. The Jets also have visits set up with LB Mario Haggan, RT Shane Olivea, CB Randall Gay, FS Eugene Wilson, and OL Damien Woody for the upcoming week."

There are plenty of RTs and DE/OLBs in the draft, why are we spending big FA money on those positions!?

He started all 16 games at RDE as a rookie in 2003 under head coach Dave McGinnis. Dennis Green took over in 2004 and Pace was replaced by Bertrand Berry. Ken Whisenhunt took over last year and moved Pace to SLB. Pace became a very productive player at that position.
He is a tough player and seems to be a smart football player. That's the type of player needed for this Jets defense.
There were four really good players on the Arizona defense last year- Pace, Darnell Dockett, Roderick Hood, and Adrian Wilson. Karlos Dansby was alright.

I say we go after Olivea or Woody, and go after them HARD as our RT and work on making the O-Line one of the strongest positions in the league with

    D'Brickisahw Ferguson, A.Faneca, N.Mangold, Moore, Olivea/Woody

Talk about upgrading the O-Line with A.Faneca a 7 Time Pro Bowler in replace of W.Montgomery? And a RT in Olivea or Woody with all the potential and talent in the world to be our franchise RT for years to come? Talk about an O-Line with YOUTH, YOUTH and more youth with that VETERAN LEADER in Faneca holding down the left side of the O-Line for the next 4 years.

P.S... In 4 seasons Brick and Mangold will still be ONLY 28 years of age

And then go and draft Gholston in the draft as our outside pass rushing threat... It only makes sence We would then have 2 young play makers in the secondary with Revis and Rhodes with 2 explosive LB's playing behind Jenkins in David Harris and Vernon Gholston
