I hope he takes Brian with him if he gets the job. He will be 69 in September. Halas and Levy both coached at age 72. Shula retired at age 65.

I don't know. Tampa Bay is really going to hire a 69-year old to be the head coach? If so, they will be looking for a new head coach again in 2 or 3 years one would think.

After Raheem Morris and being "youngery" they probably want some serious experiance to coach up those young kids they have a average age of 25.95

MS is a good coach. He was one of many I wanted as Jets coach instead of Rex Ryan, but he is old now. I figured someone should have hired him in 09 for a 2 or 3 year run. But now at age 69? Too old I think.

Questionable. Hopefully it happens and he takes his boy with him. Time for the Jets to go in another direction on offense.

Just out of curiosity what didn't you like about Rex at the time?

Three years ago I thought Rex Ryan was a defensive wizard who was not going to be an elite head coach. Thought he was a Wade Phillips type- excellent coordinator but questionable head coach. I thought Ryan was not likely to be a great leader of 53 men.

No but it works out so much better for the organization if he gets hired as the head coach somewhere.

Amazing that the chargers fired him after a 14-2 season to appease that douchebag AJ Smith, but they keep both Smith and Turner after an amazing run of mediocrity...

I read or heard (can't recall) a great line about Marty Shottenheimer once.

"If you want to make the playoffs every year, hire Marty Shottenheimer. If you are looking to win playoff games, don't hire Marty Shottenheimer."

Yup. The Chargers are institutionally great at uncovering star talent, and awful at literally everything else.

I've always thought it was interesting that Schottenheimer is stuck with the "choker" reputation, as I'm not sure how fair it is to blame the coach in most situations. For example, if Earnest Byner holds onto the football or Nate Kaeding hits a field goal, Schottenheimer's legacy would be remarkably different.

Or their 14-2 year...if that retard that picked Brady didn't fumble they would have had Indy at home for the afc title game
