The defense with the pass rusher will always be tough to pass against but the defense with the great CB will only be tough if it also has a great pass rusher. I like Revis a lot but that tradeup sucked balls and we're paying for it now.
We wouldnt be paying for it if we had a pass rusher to go along with him. The Revis pick was a great pick. Hopefully Gholston can become a good pass rusher for us next season.
Come on now . . . Revis is the fucking man - he's one of the best players on the team. Trading up for him is one of the best moves this team has made since Tannenbaum took over.
i dont think he is saying that revis isnt doing well. what he is saying is that you can have one shut down corner and there are still 4 guys that they can throw to. dwayne robertson was never considered a pass rusher, although he was looked at as a pretty good one coming out of college for a dt he was still a dt, which in itself tells you his job is not as a pass rusher. gholston, hehe thats funny, yeah maybe he wont look TOTALLY LOST next year. this team has some pass rushers, however when you only rush 3 and usually send the blitz from 15 yards deep your pass rushing stats are probably going to suffer.
The Jet's pass defense blows chunks. It has blown chunks for two years running now with Revis. He's a great player but great pass defenses are made or broken by the pass rush. What benefit exactly did the Jets pass defense gain by the addition of Revis, given that we can't seem to stop anybody from passing against us?
Revis is one of the top 3 players on the team, and one of the best in the league at his position. Can you *please* stop trying to make this point? What pass rusher in '07 btw?
My point is that the Jet's pass defense is TWENTY-NINTH in the NFL. How much worse would it be if we didn't have Revis, who we traded two high draft picks for? We were just as bad last year. Trading up for Revis was like trading up for a star caliber wide receiver when the offensive line was so bad the QB wasn't going to have any time to throw anyway. It was a bass-ackwards move that has not advanced the franchise at all. It was a JETS move.
