THINGS I HEARD AROUND THE NFL LAST WEEK ?
    FROM MICHAEL LOMBARDI:
Trade winds are blowing, and the Cleveland Browns seem to be making the most noise of any team. I hear from more than one NFL team that the Browns have a No. 1 pick on the table for Brady Quinn and are looking for more. However, it appears to the teams that I?ve talked to that the Browns will make the move to trade Quinn. There seem to be two teams very interested. They also will move Braylon Edwards and have at least a No. 1 pick on the table right now. Expect the Browns to have their team reshaped by the time the draft ends.

I didn't see this posted but it's been out for two days. Would you giuve a #17 for Quinn?

It seems logical. Quinn is that game manager type the Jets are content with and at the same time may grow to be somewhat of a playmaker.

I just don't think the Jets are willing to do this, even though the Notre Dame following is big in NY.

If we are going to take a QB with the pick anyway, then Yes, if not then I'm not sure. I am a Notre Dame fan though, so would love Quinn on the team, although i haven't heard our name mentioned with him specifically.

he's better than any QB that will be available at #17, if you want to look at it that way.

I'd trade the 17 and a later round pick for Quinn and a second. I doubt the Browns would do that trade, though.

I think I would just go with the 17th pick and a Somali pirate with a head for the game.

Actually, I voted, No. I am not looking for Ryan to take us to the SB in the first year by grasping at straws.

I think we are well-positioned going into the draft and have many options at our disposal. We should not be in a panic situation. There is a quantum difference between the quality Ryan inherited and the quality Mangini inherited.

I agree with this, if we the choice is definately going to be Freeman, I would much rather flip it for Quinn. however if we have no plans to take a QB at 17, then i would rather keep the pick, and then trade back to pick up extra selections.

Brady Quinn is just as unproven as Kellen Clemens. if we are going to go w/ an unproven guy let's go w/ our own. There had to have been a reason we picked him 3 years ago, let's give him a shot.

Exactly my thoughts. Quinn hasn't proven a thing yet, I'd rather see what we have and get someone else who can help out at 17.

im so ready for the talk and speculation of anyone who plays QB not on the Jets to end, its getting really old.

people act like we have Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, and Alex Smith on our team.

how about we watch Clemens or Ratliff actually play more than 8 games and find out what we have and address our complete lack of depth at every position in the draft.

I'll likely want to puke if we cough up a #1 for this guy. He's done little to nothing in Cleveland since being in the league. Why the hell would he be that expensive? Does he look that good sitting on the bench or something? We have a whole corral of unproven QBs in our own stable. For what we are paying them I'd just as well see Clemens out there getting pounded into the turf.

I actually agree with junc on this one.

To be honest, I'd rather take Sanchez or Stafford over Quinn if either is available at 17.

Ugh. No thanks. I don't even think Quinn is better than what we currently have. Hated him coming out of college, hate him now.

I hope not, I'd rather use the first on Edwards than Quinn.

he's easily better than what we have and he's better than Sanchez too.

How do you know Quinn is better than what we have? After all, he has less starts than Kellen Clemens, and isn't the knock on the guys we have, that they haven't played?

I was more impressed with Quinn in 2008 than I was with anything Clemens or Ratliff have ever done.

Quinn was fairly highly rated coming out of Notre Dame. It was not unlikely that he'd go in the top 10 picks at the time and some people had him going top 3. That said, he hasn't responded all that well to the wide open job opportunity in Cleveland and I'm not sure he'd be up to the challenge of coming in here and taking the Jet's job.

The Browns aren't exactly beating the world at the moment and if they're ready to let him go already it says something. The other guy there is ok, but he's not great.

    Which game impressed you?
The one where he was 8 of 18 for 94 yds and 2 ints?
His only good game was against a weak Denver D.
Against Buf and Hou he looked like crap .

If we can get Samardjza from the cubs along with him then im down.

But really I doubt the Jets are one of the teams offering a first for Quinn. It could all be a smoke screen but i believe when Rex says he trusts the guys they have on the team now.
