What the hell are the Jets doing?!?!?!?! Or better question is why aren't they doing anything. We cleary need a defensive tackle Washington is gone, Tripplet is gone, I know our first priority is QB. But, you would think we would be bringing in someone. And don't give me this crap about bringing in lackeys from the Patriots one guy wasn't even a starter and the other was only starting because everyone else on their O-line got hurt got hurt. Good O-linemen are flying of the FA list, DT's are going now, I want to see us get someone decent. I know we are rebuilding and looking for young talent, but we still need some veteran leadership. Aaaaaaah, I need a drink!

    Our first priority is QB?

If that's the case then we should have ditched Pennington. Somthing must be up with that.

there is no need to jump into the market and make an impulse decision.we dont need any stinken old guys who were thrown on the heap.out of all the signings im impressed with 1.the james signing by the cardinals thats it.the others are just faces changing places.

I agree that if we targeted one area of need in free agency, it should be defensive tackle. There lack of activity in the O-line market has me thinking we may target D-Brick with the #4.

There are a lot of guys on this board who believe the Daniel Snyder model is the way to the Super Bowl.....who could argue with all those titles he's won.

Larry Tripplett is a 3T, he'd be just as bad a fit as DRob.

OMG!! We failed to sign an overweight 37 year old DT. The season is lost.

That's right, we missed the boat by not signing a guy that I remember hearing people say was done 5 years ago. He isn't going to be able to keep going, he's way too big to be playing into 40.

Not sure what the surprise is here. BB (and EM, by default) ditched the guy about two years ago in NE. Do you think Washington's been running hills with Jerry Rice in SF during this offseason to show his recommitment to the game?

signing one or two good players wouldn't be considered "rebuilding through free agency."

we can still build via the draft AND sign one/two solid player(s) at a position of need, but it seems like all the good FA's are going quickly.

everyone keeps saying that we don't need to sign anyone; i agree, we don't need to let it ride on FA, but don't expect to fill half of the holes with 4th and 5th round draft picks.

    cheers

Well hoenstly, Washington wouldn't even be around the time we start making a serious run for the super bowl anyway. This would have been a terrible pickup.

Since the salary cap got raised, a lot of players that sign right now are going to be overpriced. Better to wait out the spending craze, and pick up good players at a discount when they realize they priced themselves out of the market. Let's pick up a team full of James Farriors.

I think this is the biggest reason why they've been so quiet thus far in free agency. Yes the Jets have some cap room to play with. I also would have loved to bring in a young FA such as Bentley or Will Witherspoon. However, you can argue that the Jets need the following things right now:
    QB
    RB
    FB
    WR (depth)
    TE
    OT (probably 2 here)
OG/C (3 considering the lack of depth)
    DT (2 with Legree/Reed gone)
LB (if you are going to go to a 3-4 D, you probably need 3 more)
    CB (depth)

With that many holes, they probably did not feel that blowing most of the available money on one player was a feasable idea. If they did, they might have had to rely a lot more on whomever they get out of the draft.

At what point did you think our 3 year plan would come to fruition with mid level free agent signings. We're have to get younger, and build through the draft...
