Forgot the link: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...returning-to-jets-im-not-asking-for-the-moon/ Interesting.. it does kinda seem like a shot at Holmes, doesn't it?
The difference is that Braylon has been to and still remembers hell and this was his 1st taste of winning. Holmes has been riding success.
Ugh, this has been discussed in multiple threads. Can we focus on the positive of his obvious desire to return instead of looking for tension? It's PFT. They ignored half the tweets and focused on the ones that made their story controversial.
And Braylon has had a big contract since he was the 3rd overall pick. Holmes was #25. I have no issue with Tone wanting a big contract, because he's earned it. Braylon has plenty of money in the bank, and has found a home since his days in Michigan. He loves it here - he wins, he is in the #1 market for everything else in the world, the fans love him, he adores his coach. He also has the "character issues" tag on him due to the DUI and shit, so that'll hurt his market value. He and Tone aren't the top FA WR depending on the rules this year, so he knows that why get the same contract on a shitty team when the Jets can get him a ring at some point? I can see a cap friendly, incentive laden, roster bonus contract that will enable the Jets to sign another one of their FAs.
this is true. Braylon knows this team is destined for long-term success. If he leaves, he knows that he may be forced to go to a team that is terrible, or plays in a terrible city. Braylon knows that NY is the perfect place for him, he just needs to get Tanny to offer him a reasonable deal. I think this probably was a shot at holmes, specifically for not being at Jets west...
They aren't? Who is a bigger FA WR besides Sidney Rice? They're 2/3 of the top end, and if 2010 RFA rules apply, Braylon is easily atop the class. He'll be able to get more than the Jets can offer. His desire to stay anyway speaks volumes. Likely to be earned incentives count against the cap. Make no mistake, he'll be asked to take a very real discount to stay with the team. We'll see what the rules are coming out of a new CBA, but he probably sign anything too roster bonus heavy.
It's unfortunate that there hasn't been an off-season this year because I'd really like to see Edwards re-signed.
He got the franchise tag. Here's a website that has a list of free agents, who received the tags, etc. They're rankings are a little off but the information is good. http://walterfootball.com/freeagents.php
ah, thanks. Then in that case Rice is the only other WR FA. Well, then they'll get top dollar once they hit FA.
Vincent Jackson hits free agency the same day as Tamba Hali, Lamarr Woodley, and Kamerion Wimbley. FT hits us in different ways at two positions.
Santonio has 1 more strike before being suspended for an entire season. I'm pretty sure teams will take that into account as well.
from ESPN NY As much as he said he loves the Jets, Edwards hinted that he felt under-utilized at times last season. When he sits down at the bargaining table with the Jets, he'd like to hear them say they will do a better job of feeding him the ball when he has a favorable matchup. "There were a lot of games where I felt I could've made more plays," he said, adding, "It's not about being the No. 1 [receiver]; that doesn't bother me. It's about utilizing me and my talents a little more in certain games." After skipping the first two days of the passing camp due to personal reasons, Edwards said he's planning to stay a few days extra to work individually with Sanchez -- "the guy I plan on playing with in the future," he said.
Unfortunately with Brian Schottenheimer running the offense, i dont know if that's going to happen..
