    Via the Bergen Record {Randy Lange}

    Brad Smith cleared up some confusion over his 40-yard speed, listed by one draft source as 4.54 seconds. "My fastest time at Missouri was 4.36," he said. "At my pro day I ran a 4.38 and a 4.44. At the combine I was 4.46." He attributed the 4.54 to probably the slowest stopwatch at his pro day.

  2. In terms of Size/speed/agility ratio for an WR, it's hard to find a more intriguing guy than Smith. The question will be if he can catch a football and how he adjussts to the position change.

    I was just telling my boy about Brad Smith right now. Just look at him on game tapes, he's always running away from others and being the main playmaker on your team while being the QB says a lot itself.

    Jets | B. Smith has highs and lows as wide receiver
    Sat, 13 May 2006 08:49:03 -0700

    Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets WR Brad Smith had some highs and lows at a first-time wide receiver Friday, May 12. He made some nice receptions on slants and over his shoulder, but dropped at least two passes and slipped on the slightly wet turf in the afternoon session.

    Good find Jabba. I repeated some scouts reports on draft day that called him nothing mroe than a possession reciever. But with a time like that he could be the speed reciever we need. I think MSU jets said the same thing as well that he has a lot of speed and we will be quite happy we drafted him. Very encouraging to here.

    Going to be interesting to see how Smith pans out: he certainly is talented, and if he keeps his head level some good things should be expected.

    the very least Brad Smith will be able to do is stretch the field for our offense.

    and if he gets a ball thrown his way, all he has to do is catch it.

    run deep, real fast, and at times, catch the ball.

    Brad Smith is going to be a terrific receiver for the Jets. I've said it before, I'll say it again, he'll be the best WR on the roster by the time his contract is up (barring the drafting of a stud like Johnson/Jarrett).

    That's good news, hopefully that track speed will translate to route-running speed in pads on turf.

    History shows , Track speed - NFL speed don't usually match.

    What good is runnin hella fast if you can't make a quick cut or it takes to long to stop & start.....

    ...Show me the speed on the field, not on a track...:up:
