what would you guys have to say about this? he's listed as 6-2, 209 pounds, and he has speed, not to mention would always be a threat receiving outta the backfield and to even pull up and throw the ball...this may be a radical sounding idea, but he honestly couldnt be any worse than the running backs now
You know what, I think trying him out here for a few series in the next game might be a good idea. As long as he can hold on to the ball he can't be much worse than what we have so far.
he doesnt have a rb body.. his body slender i doubt he can take a consistant pounding from linebackers.
How come we do not throw an occasional screen to Leon Washington, NE had an agrresive pass rush for a while?
I was upset that Brad Smith didn't get any touches on the ball today. He was invovled in a play, but it was a reverse fake to him. I never thought of him actually playing as RB this season, although it is possible. I wouldn't mind seeing him as RB late in a game that we really have no shot at to comeback.
I thought the fourth down play would have been a perfect time to use Brad Smith - either as a decoy or in a pitchout effort.
The main problem is the line. Barlow has done well when he gets even a small hole, but most of the time with our OL there's nothing but a solid wall of defenders.
No way. Smith is far too thin to be a RB. He would take a huge pounding from DLs and LBs. He does need to be involved in more plays than he was today though. There should definitely have been a reverse thrown into the mix at some point today. AG is right though. It doesn't matter if we have Barlow, Blaylock, or Edge coming out of the backfield. Until this OL can learn to block for the run, we aren't going to get too many yards on the ground. Unfortunately, at some point, that's going to catch up to the passing game, and then we are in real trouble.
Yeah I was thinking that before. I should have added it into my post. Brad isn't the biggest kid. But he has the skills to impress on the field
Egh. I never heard of anyone turning from a QB to WR and then RB. First of all, Smith doesnt have the body he has to beef up a bit. Second, carrying skills are a neccessity. In the other positions ball carrying wasnt a high priorty. This second week of no running game has got yall delusional. Our problem, like last year is the oline. Do you see any holes these guys can run through? Dont get me wrong, theyre good pass protectors but the run blocking really needs work.
