The truth is that if we have a successful season next year there is absolutely no issue. If Tebow comes in and makes us a better team there is no issue. If Sanchez finally lives up to his potential there is no issue. The pressure rests sqaurely on Mark's shoulders. It's time to put up or shut up regardless of whether Tebow is on the team. He needs to look at it as Tebow will help us in certain situations and I need to be the leader and player the Jets need. If he can't do that nothing else will matter and it will be Tebow time which might not be the worst move in the world. It would definitely fit into Rex's ground and pound philosophy. Tebow is a PROVEN winner and who knows maybe Skip Clueless is right for once. Wouldn't that make a great story, namely, Tebow leads Jets to the Super Bowl beating Manning and the Broncos along the way. Discount that possibility at your own peril.
On the field we are better but I think we paid too much. I think Tebow will do a better job w/ the WC package than Brad Smith did but I can't believe we gave up 4th and 6th rd picks for him.
I'm rooting for Tebow to make good plays, but I'm not rooting for him to have pretty stats. I'd love to see him help lead the Jets down the field but will be even more excited when someone other than Tebow gets a first down or scores a TD.
4th rounder was a little much for him and the frenzy could get ugly but it is what it is. He's a Jet now and I'll be rooting for him.
The problem is when Sanchez throws an interception. The crowd will chant Tebow's name. It will be awful.
It all depends how they use him. If it's just a few plays a game, I don't see the value in giving up a 4. I'm hoping they use him as a regular H-back somehow. Idk how feasible that is though.
look, you know that there is going to be a team that is desperate for a QB at some point this season, or an owner desperate for ticket sales and that is when we trade Tebow for more than a 4th. I like the move, and I have more confidence in Tebow as a backup than I do McElroy or Stanton. I can seriously see us muscling out a late 2nd round pick from a desperate team if things go awry for another franchises' qb.
Tebow is a TD machine. This oveerreaction to this move will be silenced once Tebow trucks a defender for a 4th quarter TD in week 1. With McKnight, Greene and Tebow the team can easily run the ball 35 times per game making it oh so easy once again for Sanchez, to make a simple one read pass (since he cannot do a pass progression and assess a defense). This is the best news in a while. Tebow is made to be an H-back/Wildcat player. This is the perfect system for him.
This - Football fans and especially NY fans/media are very impulsive and will lose perspective that Sanchez is not an elite QB. I agree he has not lived up to his potential/draft pick but he is an average QB and more importantly our QB. The moment he makes a bone-head play or has a bad game the Tebow chant will ring loud and in the papers. This is not the answer the Jets need.
I had some semblance of hope that Sanchez with better OL play, With Improved Run game, With Consistent Weapons to throw to.. AND most importantly without the confusing Schottenheimlich system and Assinine playcalling... Could develop THIS YEAR and start to become and NFL QB..... This stamps all that out IMO, it completely undercuts any chance Sanchez had of developing and................. IT GUARANTEES IM GOING TO BE WATCHING GIMMICK BULLSHIT OFFENSE FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! ##### ##### ##### IM AS PISSED AS I CAN REMEMBER AS A JETS FAN.... CRAP!
Saw this on ESPN comment section "WILDCAT is dead........it's kinda like being on your first date and pretending to yawn while placing your arms around the shoulders of your date. Once you get away with it the first time her defense is up and ready."
Can't believe some fans cant' see this absolute TRAIN WRECK of a season that is heading our way........
I just want to know why Bart Scott and his 4.2 Million was not included in this trade. Obviously Denver was desperate to get rid of Tebow and they have a need at linebacker. Come on Mike T! Even I can see we got swindled here.
