It's amusing, but on the whole I think it tends to support the view that it is more likely than not Fitzpatrick stays with the Jets. However it does point to some factors out there that might change that.

The possibility that Denver might see both Manning and Brock depart is a concern, but I don't know that Elway will think the answer for is franchise is a 33 year old Qb. Imo he will not be thinking only about next year, but has to look 3 to 5 down the road. (I say that because right now he's about as well positioned for the long term as any current GM, and despite wanting to repeat (Everybody wants that), he's got years ahead of him as GM.)

The Denver thing is the only thing I'm really worried about. That team is loaded for bear right now and could be a viable repeat candidate but not with a rookie QB and probably not with Peyton given his cap number and downwards trend. If they lose Osweiler to a big offer somewhere because The Redskins gave Cousins a big deal or franchised him then Fitzpatrick could easily be the next best choice for them next year. They might pay him for a year to try to repeat. Peyton's cap number is gone and they'll have the space to give him a deal and what better than being the first QB to start for 7 different teams?

I think the Jets will re-sign Fitzpatrick but if the dominoes start to fall I'll get nervous.

Osweiler has shown nothing to warrant a big contract. I will laugh at any team that offers him one unless it's the jets then I'll just cry

Well what good is that then? That would be the most interesting scenario. LOL Seriously, thanks for sharing this. It was an interesting read and the best thing I've ever read on the Bleacher Report. Hopefully, that means they are on their way to becoming a quality site and source for news. I hope the Jets can agree with Fitz on a new reasonable ($9 million or under per season) deal soon.

Yes, aside from questioning how Elway is going to deal with such a situation, and he may lock up Osweiler before anyone else makes a bid on him is another consideration, but yeah to be clear I could see IF that came to pass that Fitzpatrick could be seen as a good fit for them for two maybe three years, and I can also see Fitz choosing there over the Jets.

Not that he will. But it could happen.

heard kirk cousins is asking for like 20-25M per and the skins are saying F that.. lol. He might actually have a better chance at getting that some how than Brock at getting it.

It's Mike Tanier, the one good writer on there. All his pieces are like that, you just have to look for him.

Fitz has to be our #1 priority this offseason but there's a scenario we can lose him. We know he likes playing for Gailey and with Marshall/Decker but is that more important to him than his family's financial future?
It only takes one of the Rams, Texans, Eagles, Niners, or Browns to say they think they can win now with Fitz and offer him a huge deal. Not all those teams will want him but he has a chance to pull in 3 years, 36 mil, 18-22 guaranteed. I want Fitz back and don't want to think about Geno or someone else starting next year but there has to be a cutoff on what we'll pay.
2 years 12 mil to get him back sounds nice but if he wants one more big pay day he'll be much pricier.

    2 things to consider

Osweiler went 5-2 over a crucial stretch for Broncos. Elway must like that

Fitz is much older and not many teams, LEAST of which the Broncos would want him in their system. Plus, Fitz has made decent $ over his NFL career and I bet he doesnt want to leave NY

"3 years, 36 mil, 18-22 guaranteed" for Fitz

lmao whatya smoking man...not a snowballs chance in hell hes getting that offer

Rich people more often than not want to keep getting as rich as possible. I'm not going to call him a bad guy if his agent create a bidding war to drive his value up and make the most money possible. The contract I suggested might be inflated but he can get his 3rd year, he can get at least 15 mil guaranteed. There'll obviously be a way out after the third year but a team flush with cap space can go for the overpay like we did for Revis last season and in that case we lose him or match a poison pill contract.

Hopefully teams get into a bidding war with Cousins, Osweiler and RG3 while we resign Fitz and remain under the radar.

RG3 is an excellent fit for the Broncos and that Kubiak offense.

With the cousins tag and bradford re-signing this deserves a bump I think

I love Fitz, but if there is a "bidding war" over him, then I'd just say forget it. He's never warranted anything to earn a lot for QB other than a good season last year. His performance prior to that suggests he is in the mid to bottom level of QBs.

Ok, please don't kill me for this but as I try to look at the overall picture of the QB situation in the NFL, if Fitz asking price is too high, would you guys be ok with RG3 as the Jets QB?

Personally I'm tired of the jets overpaying for old players..(mevi$). If I have to live with a couple of years of RG3 at a reasonable cost and good QB play under Chan Gailey, with Petty being groomed, I'm ok with that.

I'm looking at the salaries for Cousins and Bradford who are younger than Fitz, so I understand why the Eagles and Washington did it, but the jets are in a different position, and I can't see Fitz getting 18 million a year.

Bradford 2 years $40m, $26m guaranteed....Does Fitz get $20m guaranteed? Can we afford to give Fitz $20m guaranteed?

I think he is, one of the biggest problems RG 3 had, was the FO and the CS were not on the same page. He was a big part of the first year success with that team when he was drafted. His injury was unfortunate but I'm sure he has learned a thing or two from his long fall off the top of the mountain.

With the Jets, there is a lot of structure and discipline under this new regime, he is a skilled guy, I believe he can do well under this FO.

Geno was immediately seen as a fraud on draft day and that's why no one was going to take a chance on him until Idzik did him a favor, if he didn't select him he might have gone undrafted.
