I’m guessing the $258 million man-child needed a scape goat to feel better about his shitty play.

Unfortunately I don't think this is the case. Dorsey was Allen's handpicked coordinator after Daboll left for the Giants.

Daboll and Allen butted heads at times but he was able to rein in some of his hero ball. Working with his best friend Dorsey, it came back.

This is a HC stepping in to try and save his job and their season by pulling that band-aid off

Or the franchise collectively came to the realization that Josh Allen's window isn't going to be open forever and they seem to be going backwards so measures need to be taken.

I think this happened for the very obvious reason that McDermott knows that if he doesn't turn this around he's gone at the end of the season, and the OC is the obvious person to throw overboard. The real point is that Allen has taken several steps back this year in his handling of the offense, especially in crunch time, and they're certainly not going to throw him under the bus (and for those thinking the answer is for him to use his big arm, his completion percentage in the last three seasons on passes of 20+ yards has gone from 44.8% to 39.4% to 36.6%).

Serious question and it isn't as one sided as you think

    Dak or Allen?

Dak has higher comp % (66.7% vs 62.6%)
    Daks TD% (5% vs 5.2% of Allen)
    Daks INT% (1.8% vs 2.3% of Allen)
Dak has 17 GWD vs 14 for Allen
    Daks Y/A 7.6 vs Allen 7.2
Daks Yards gained per completion 11.4 vs 11.5 for Allen
Dak averages more yards gained per game (257 vs 240)
Daks QB Rating 98.5 vs 91.9

That doesn't factor in rushing though. Allen has nearly 3 times as many rushing touchdowns and nearly 3 times as many rushing yards. If you look at it holistically I think Allen is a better football player, but as a passer only they are similar in output and have similar weaknesses

they both choke in the playoffs too :D

The running is definitely the difference - in fact, even before looking at the numbers I would have said that Prescott was probably a slightly better passer than Allen over their careers. The only argument I can see against that was that Prescott had a bad year in 2022, and that could have indicated a downward direction, but that doesn't seem to have been the case.

Prescott has better coaching with McCarthy, too

Buffalo is wasting Allen's talent. He's not a guy like Peyton Manning or Joe Burrow that grew up as coaches sons and have a Ph.D. in precision QBing. Those guys you could pair up with Sean McDermott and whoever Allen wants as OC.

I don't think Allen loves the game as much as they do either but that's a separate discussion

Allen needs an offensive mind to do the thinking for him, like a McCarthy. Right now Allen looks like he is in a dark place out there.

Daboll staying in Buffalo would have been better for Allen, and it might have been better for Daboll, too.

It’s very strange because he’s always looked like a gamer. It’s almost as if he looks like he doesn’t think he can ever beat Mahomes or Burrow and is playing completely defeated by those last two playoff losses.

I agree too. Normally I think you should try to limit quarterbacks rushing as they grow as a passer, but he’s a big strong burly fucking kid. And you can teach him to protect himself like Russell Wilson who was much smaller but NEVER took an unnecessary hit as a young gun and still doesn’t.

Watch some weird perverse twist on history happen and they end up trading Allen to New England for a 1st in 2025.
