Usually this is the best time of year for Jets fans. I always get excited about the promise of the next season, new signings, dead weight let go and all that stuff.......... this time it feels different. I just had the chance to see Ryan at the press conference and to hear a Jets coach say things like "My goal is to win a Super Bowl. It's not to just win X number of games." and "The message to the rest of the league," he said, "is, 'Hey, the Jets are coming, and we're going to give you everything we got. And I think that's going to be more than you can handle."' and the best one 'Kill philosophy' WOW! I asked for it and now we have it, a coach who speaks with confidence and passion, and oh yeah he has credentials. Maybe this will be the last time the off season is our best time of year and we will be getting ready for the last big game J E T S........you know the rest.
Hi everyone, I'm new here(sort of....since I haven't exactly posted in 121 days....sorry about that...really!). Anyway, Ryan makes us excited this coming season 'cause he BELIEVES WITH CONVICTION that the Jets are going to be a force to be reckoned with. It's not another typical ho-hum business-as-usual situation this time around. Go DEFENSE-A-SAURUS REX!!!!
i looked at that press conference too, and it doesnt feel like any other season. his ability to exude confidence is rare on a team, where the past 3 years, the head coach gave the fans, and players, nothing to be excited about. He's a players coach. I believe our team will be defense first and he will build the team around that. Rex Ryan was the perfect candidate, and I am excited for him to be our head coach. ON VERNON GHOLSTON: Rookie LB Vernon Gholston, who was picked sixth overall in last year's draft and had no sacks this season, reminds Ryan of Ravens Pro Bowl LB Terrell Suggs. Ryan said Suggs, the 10th overall pick in the 2003 draft, was considered a bust within the organization before Ryan was assigned the task of turning him into a player a week before his rookie season. Suggs, who is also a converted defensive end, finished with 12 sacks and was named AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year. "If (Gholston) can't do it for me and this team, he's never going to do it," Ryan said. "He's going to get coached a lot harder than he thinks. I'm excited about the young man's potential. I don't even think he's scratched the surface of the kind of player he can be. "Now, with that being said, he's going to have to give a heck of a commitment. He's going to have to humble himself. ... Terrell Suggs was in the same boat. I know it's hard to believe." ..... that gentlemen. is our football coach.
After watching the press conference I have to say, I think we have something here. We have a pretty good team put together that has seemed to just lack that killer instinct. I really think Ryan just may be that intangible that we've been missing. After watching that press conference I'm ready to follow him into battle! Time will tell, but there already seems to be an energy that wasn't there with mangini.
You know your a Jet fan.......... When you look forward to the off season, and it is more exciting than the regular season
