Who do you think is the best Head Coach since 1970. For those coaches who coached during the 60's as well, you can use their record / accomplishments from the 60's to form your argument. I basically did not want to include Lombardi, Brown, Halas or Lambeau
Either Walsh or John Madden, both great coaches, in about 5 seasons maybe we'll add Rex Ryan to that list
paul brown -write in option although his body of work was very little post 1970 and very great prior.
Its not simply becasue of though. The run and gun attepted to change things as has the wildcat formations. The bigger issue is those offenses did not win it all, or become staples of a team. Walsh WON. Period. Yes he changed things, but the changes only stuck because they were effective and proven so over several years.
I took Belichik "Booooooooo" but I think the fact he has kept his team a legitimate SB contender for this many years in the Salary Cap era says alot. Obviously, Walsh, Knoll, and Landry were great, and it's not hard to make an argument for any of them. The other "great" coaches on this list are great. But they did have the advantage of keeping their teams basically in tact for long periods.
Walsh changed the game of football moreso than any of these other names AND he won mulitple Super Bowl's as well. Easy pick.
Bill Walsh or Knoll based on success. I gave my vote to Walsh because of his offensive innovation. Parcells is my favorite though, and Belidick is my least favorite. Hahahaha.
Walshs' offense(his, not Browns, which was marginally effective) is still in use today, 20+ years after he introduced it to the NFL. I'm a George Siefert fan, but that may or may not be because I lost my virginity to one of his granddaughters.
