Thinking about what the Jets might do on draft day, moving up or down, and cringing at the thought, and it brought to mind Draft Days in the past. The only time I can remember the Jets looking nimble and smart was in 1993. The Jets had the #3 pick overall and coveted Marvin Jones. Somehow, Dick Steinberg talked the Cardinals into sending us #39, Johnny Johnson to swap one spot. The Cards moved up to #3 (don't remember who they took) and the Jets slid down to #4 and picked Shadetree. Obviously, the Cardinals were not that concerned with keeping Johnson (now I remember, I guess they drafted Garrison Hearst?), but still JJ had a great year for the Jets. Anyone recall any other decent draft day deals by the Jets?
Why not simply review prior disastrous JETS draft picks and be reminded that perhaps the light at the end of the tunnel is not actually a train coming the other way......
Drafting Vilma when everyone was saying he was too small to play in the NFL, and had "injury" concerns. How about picking Lav Coles with a third rounder?
I also remember the D-Rob fiasco, not to mention Parcells trading down a few times in 97 and we ended up with Farrior and Boose(?)....
That's the move I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. The player Ari took was Garrison Hearst. Unfortunately even when we make a great move it still didn't work out as well as it should have as JJ was gone 2 years later and Marvin's promosing career was derailed by injuries.
