we are all showing our ages now....lol my favs include taxi, abbott and costello, ev loves raymond, all in the family. also thought the old addams family was pretty funny with gomez and lurch. as far as the best - seinfeld or the honeymooners take it.
oohh just started watching a bit of family guy and holy shit thats pretty good. gotta be careful cause my girls are always around the TV and there is no way i would allow them to see/hear that.

Chappelle Show Season 2 is probably the funniest single season of any show of all time. but from an overall standpoint, it is easily Seinfeld.
It's Garry Shandling show from the 80s was a great show. I think it was on Showtime then moved to FOX.

I consider it on a different playing field since no commercials and on HBO. Lets it use humor and pacing cable shows can't. Oh The League on FX is up there for current shows
Always Sunny and Seinfeld. very similar blueprints. worked to perfection by both. seinfeld is still the superior show, but frank reynolds and charlie kelly may go down in history as the two greatest tv characters of all time.
Simpsons in it's prime (which it's well past now) is hard to beat in an "all time" competition. Also love Arrested Development and Seinfeld gets obvious nod. I haven't seen much of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (first two seasons, I think) but I loved what I have seen so far. There are lots of good British sitcoms too. Personally I like Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, Mr. Bean, Father Ted and probably a few others that aren't coming to mind right now.
