I believe that Washington 64 yd screen is one of the best clutch long plays in Jet History. I know our playoff history is rather short but I thought about other plays -

    criteria:

    - lets say 25 yds or more

    - late in the game

    - in a playoff or game with playoff implications

    - more meaningful if Jets win.

    - Kicks and interceptions should be a separate catergory

My memories (in no specific order)

    1. Washington's 64yd screen

    2. Maynard 52 yd bomb in 1968 AFL Champ game, led to Maynard short TD pass late in game to win.

    3. 1991 Jets vs Miami, Esiason to Moore for 30 yds in overtime, to set up Allegre's game winner. Moore also had a 22 yarder with 38 sec left in regulation to setup tying FG.

    4. I remember McNeil ripping off a 25 or more yarder late in the Oakland 1982 season playoff game to help clinch the win.

The Jets (not including Namath or Wesley Walker) haven't really been a big play type of team. So its kind of sad that Washington's big play, is one of the best ever.
The Jets, of course have other playoff and BIG game wins, these are the ones off the top of my head.

    DAMN, that screen felt good.

penny to moss in san diego. the implication is they lose without that play IN the playoffs.

a pretty pointless post, but what about Pennington to Moss in the playoff game vs SD in January of 05.

It didn't win the game for us, but Richie Anderson's 56 yard screen vs. Indianapolis in 2002 really got the ball rolling to a 41-0 win.

The Pat Ryan fake FG against KC wild card game 1986 tops the list

Moss was big, but game was still decided later on.
This may be a pointless post, but I like distractions because
    Sunday seems far away.

I wouldn't say it was pointless, but you are entitled to your opinion. I think what Longstreet was getting at was the rarity of the event, the timeliness, and the magnitude. His point is actually pretty good. Stuff like that does not usually happen to us. I can remember a lot more times when it didn't than did.

"Feelin me"? Okay, then. BTW, Kenny O was the QB in 91.

John Bock's defensive touchdown against Miami in Kotite's first year. It cut the Dolphin lead to like 56-7.

Well, your criteria is 25 yards or more... But the 23 yard Cascadden fumble recovery against Marino and the Phins to seal the win and give us a playoff birth in 1998 was pretty big....

How about the long pass from Todd to Walker late in the playoff game against Oakland in 1983 that put the Jets on the 1 and led to the go-ahead score in a 17-14 win.

Or the two late long TDs to Dedric Ward in 1998 against Miami and Buffalo, both on the road?

boomer didn't play in '91. Kenny O did.

They beat the Dolphins in OT in a winner-goes-to-the-playoffs showdown in the final week of the season.

I think it was Hector that had a really good game that day.

That was one of the greatest passes in league history. A couple years ago, I saw it ranked as the 2nd greatest pass of all-time on NFL Films Presents... or something.

It was O'Brien to Moore not boomer and Freeman actualyl fumbled late in the '82 playof game but 2 Lance Mehl picks saved the day. earlier in that game Todd threw a bomb to Walker to set up the go ahead TD.

Darroll Ray's 98 yd INT return at Cincy in '82, Vinny to Ward at Buf in '98, Vinny to coles at Oak in '01, Vinny to Anderson in the '02 WC game vs. Indy, Chad to Moss in '04 at SD plus the PR by Moss at Pitt and the INt return by Tongue.

Ward didn't catch a long TD at Miami in '98(that was 1999) but Chrebet had about a 40 yard rec that set up our first TD.

the bomb to Vinny Testaverde to Dedric Ward in Buffalo to clinch the division in 1998 is my all time favorite...
