Anyone want to review Benny's punting today. I thought he hit a few long ones and i esp liked the one he did where the guy fumbled...i think all his punts today were torps and no drop punts (end over end as you say  ) NFL.com says he didnt have any I20?? But in the play by play, i saw one listed as being kicked to the Ten19??? cheers:grin: PS: I still think we need a Ben Graham smilie
Ben Graham did a great job today. He kicked the ball at the 11 yd contact point every time, and he bombed it. He did a very good job. Inside the 20 means the ball ENDS inside the 20. If someone catches it at the 19, and runs it beyond the 20, that doesn't count as inside the 20.
Well look what it is, the Ben Graham fan club. Hey, you started early. You said to meet here at 9:00.
Grahman is the man. One of his punts later in the 4th qtr seemd like it kept going and going and going. He is a very good punter. Glad we signed this guy.
Graham is one of the best punters in league.. that wierd spin he puts on the ball caused pacman to fumble a catch.
LOL, that 'weird spin' is what every kid in Oz can do from the age of 5  but that is the way we are taught to kick a ball.
He's the only one here who consistently provided great reports all 2005 for the benefit of us Aussies. I don't recall seeing any of your reports, apart from some nitpicky training camp posts.
He gives reports, I'll grant you that. Your choice of adjectives about the reports I'll differ with. Sorry, but he's a PUNTER, and in all honesty, most do not care much about the punts as long as they are fairly deep with good hang time...
Like I said.. He's a punter. There is no need for a detailed report of every punt. It's not worth the effort, and unfortunately, punts can not be analyzed by just their pure statistical value anyway. There are tons of factors, and half are not taken into account. If you want a report, I'll watch the shortcut broadcast on DirecTV (because I must admit, while I watched a punt, I did not analyze it, because to MOST, they're boring) and let you know what I think. It'll be good for a night where I am struggling with insomnia.
Granted punting is boring to the majority of NFL fans. I would imagine that most of you guys don't even bother to look at the punting report threads. If you think "who cares, he's just the punter" then I encourage you to not look at them and not post in them. I got the impression that TBird produced those reports chiefly for the benefit of the dozen or so registered Aussie users here plus those who I know just read them each week because they are interested in Ben Grahams NFL career. They are also posted on Aussie Rules message boards so that many hundreds of Aussie rules fans can check up on him. If you want to knock his analysis of each punt then you are missing the point of his reports. Maybe you have an agenda. I see you are the "most knowlegable poster" and I respect that as I wouldn't have a clue but I'll go with the crowd there. I'm sure TBird has a fairly good grasp of the game aswell and his Training camp reports were greatly appreciated. So don't go out of your way to give a punting report if your heart isn't in it.
i think most (Aussies) have come to understand that stats are misleading as some punts need to be short and high while others want to be as long as possible etc, but its always good to get an analysis as we are keen to follow Bens progress, plus a detailed analysis of every punt and its situation is a good indicator of his performance. Punting may be boring to you but not to us, so if its boring, dont bother with threads about punting, its that simple
i'm fascinated by punting (especially his)...for one reason...none of us can do it. he brings something entirely different to American football and i think he might open the door to some more Aussies making their way into the NFL (yes i know Darren Bennett)
