I Think there planning on using Keller in the H-Back Position and keep Baker as the traditional Tight End. Then Baker as depth...I like the TE Core Mangini has put together just hope Baker plays hard despite the contract situation.
I don't think they trade Baker unless they get something significant for him since he is not paid much at all so trading him doesn't really help us.
- Hardhitta I was just stoked about our new dead (undead?) tight end. A corpse sounds like the kind of football player who could take a hit.
HardHitta, I think BS artist was just enjoying the idea of a dead guy lining up on offense, rather than making fun of a spelling mistake. 'Weekend at Bernie's' meets 'North Dallas Forty'. By the way, the word you're looking for is 'corps'.
This guy is worth nothing.Instead of shutting his mouth, he wanted more like Oliver Twist, Coles and Kendall. It seems he will get nothing.I dont see that this guy is worth anything more better than a 5th rounder. Of more interest to me is if we will be able to trade back into the third round tomorrow.Baltimore and KC have three picks in the third.I wonder what it will take to get one of those third rounders.I doubt we can do it, without giving up a pick next year, if thats the case, I say we don't do it, we pick high in the 4th anyway.
I think the Falcons have 3 thirds, and after losing Crumpler are weak at the TE position. I'm hoping we can maybe get one of those picks for Baker, but I realize that's highly unlikely.
I second that...But I think we will need to give up Baker and 5th to move up...I dont think they will give a straight 3rd for him.
I'm sure they will try to trade him. Not sure what we will get in return. I would prefer a player rather than a pick. I don't trust them with another pick. We might have a LB available for trade too.
for sure considering we already have franks so it makes total sense to trade baker now and get some picks back
I think you guys are underestimating Baker's value in a trade. Unlike Vilma and Robertson, Baker has no medical issues. He still is young. He has excellent hands and, to some extent, has been under-utilized. He also has a very attractive contract and, probably for a little more money, could be made happy long-term. He is not an elite tight end, but he probably is an average starter in the league. So, you have an average tight end, who is young, with no medical issues, an attractive contract, with good hands. That could be worth a third round pick for the right team (especially if the Jets were to kick in their 6th or 7th round pick). Although I liked Baker, I would make this deal. Getting a good third round pick, along with our 4th, would help us complete this draft. Baker no longer wants to be a NYJ, and I don't think we need the distraction, especially as we no longer need him between yesterday's pick and Bubba Franks. Mike
you cant trade or move a player until his highlites are on u-tube. i think it's a new nfl rule. haha. anyway, baker is not overrated. he's not 'real fast', but he has GREAT hands, he's a good blocker, and he's basically free. plus bubba has injury issues and keller ain't no blocker just yet. i would be dissapointed, but not shocked, if we traded mr chris baker for a 4th. we have other young te's that haven't played much yet, so maybe trading CB will become a blessing for someone else.
