He was tagged with very low tender (which allows Rams only the first refusal). Should he wait till June 01, he will get released (his tender has him at paltry 1.25M, and after June 01, his salary explodes above 7M area, as he played last year on a franchise tag valued at 6.3M. Reportedly, he won't sign his tender. Source: http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/05/10/wyche-atogwe-wont-sign-tender-with-rams/) Do we go after him? A few things to keep in mind: his injury limited him to 6 games last year, and he's 29 this year.
i don't think we do, I think the staff actually likes Brodney Pool and will stand pat with him. although I think Atogwe would be great in this defense, I think Rex likes who we have and will run with the horses already in the stable at this point. Plus this was reported previously.
He'll probably be traded before June 1. Edit - nevermind, he's have to sign tender with them to be traded.
yup. came here to post that. he will indeed want a deal, and he deserves one. We gotta take care of our guys first.
Only realistic shot at him is if he wanted a ring and to be in the nfl record books as a part of one of the greatest defenses in history of the nfl more than money... Still... not happening.
+1. Pool has been underrated on this board by the fans, but the fact is (so far), the Jets didn't address the Safety during the draft. Which lead me to believe that Rex has loads of trust in this guy. Pool and Leonhard are two good safeties that will do enough to prevent any big plays and maybe make a few of their own.
Wow, I when I opened this thread I thought Atogwe had his back turned in Vegas and Joey Porter's entourage was behind him.
