the difference between Mangini and Herm. If you can't see the difference with which this team plays and how it is coached, then there is no debating the fact that you do not understand football. Forget all the stats that people quote talking about Herm's Jets record or its similarity/disimilarity with his record in KC, its watching the games that matter.
Herm never could, presently can't, and probably never will be able to clock manage a game. The same goes for developing young players and bringing out the best "talent" in a player.
Herm can motivate, thats it. That would be awesome if he was the head of a church or a school counselor, but there is so much more to being a football coach. Plus that crap wears off when you start to lose. Look at the Jets, now. Seemingly backbreaking losses were completely ignored and the team came to play immediately the next week. You don't need to be a preacher, and Mangini knows that if he prepares the players well, treats them like men and is consistent they will play hard for him

And yes, I didn't feel like posting this at the end of the previous thread, since it was 3 pages long.

I understand you premise, but no need to overly bash Herm and people who liked him as coach.

I mean the 4th and short punt against the Bills was an example of Magini screwing the pooch big time.

Making wrong decisions happens. The problem with Herm was that he made the same mistakes over and over and over. Clock management. Soft defense. No adjustment.s

Herm can only be at average coach at best. Mangini, based on what he has done so far, can be a great coach. The only reason that Herm got a reputation with some people was because he made the playoffs his first two years with the Jets, something that not even Parcells could do, and therefore we had some Herm fans say that Herm is a better coach than Parcells. If anybody still thinks that, look at Parcells taking a bad team for the fourth time and turn into a powerhouse. Lets' see what Herm can do with KC now. Not looking good so far, although he got the defense to play better.

Herm didn't get us to the SB, but he did do a great job of coaching in 2002. Before his "YPTWTG" rant, the Jets were going nowhere. He deserves some credit for that year at least.

I love Mangini's style compared to Herms. I got a little scared in the Buffalo game with that punt. But overall, the difference is night and day.

And the offense is finally using Chad's biggest asset... his brain. I love how he is allowed to change plays, and make a ton of decisions at the line. Herm completely took that away from him. Chad's stats might not be that great, but I think that next year and in the near future he will continue to grow in the offense.

I don't know. With the great Mangini as our coach that year we easily would have been 17-0 in the regular season (I assume they would have given us an extra win because he is so great). And we would have won 5 SB's by now. After all, if Herm could have gotten us to the playoffs 3 times, the great Mangini surely would have overwhelmed the NFL with his greatness. He's great.

What is your problem with Mangini/ He has the Jets in the thickof things for a PO drive, and you bash him. What has he done to piss you off? Or are you Belichicks brother?

We play with more confidence with our starting QB healthy. Up until 2005 when Chad went down, we played the same way for Herm. Funny how people forget so quickly.

So how did D-Rob, Thomas, and J-Co perform under Herm?

That would've never happen under herm.....does cotchery ring a bell? I havent forgotten trust me......its like a breath of fresh air...and i would think that most pple on this board (real fans) would agree......
