Who's doing the game for CBS? Here's hoping it's not Randy Cross and Dick Enberg. I like Enberg but can't stand Cross. Simms-Nantz are in Chicago so we know it's not them.

Maybe we can get Merlin Olsen to pair up with Enberg for old time's sake.......

I haven't decided just yet. Take your pick, and I'll consider it.

    1. Jim Nantz / Phil Simms
    2. Greg Gumbel / Dan Dierdorf
    3. Dick Enberg / Randy Cross
    4. Kevin Harlan / Rich Gannon
    5. Gus Johnson / Steve Tasker
    6. Ian Eagle / Solomon Wilcots
    7. Bill Macatee or Don Criqui / Rich Baldinger
    8. Don Criqui / Steve Beuerlein

Kinky sex issues and hair pieces aside, I'd like to see Marv Albert make his way back to the NFL games. What's a Jets - Miami game without Marv? Oh the memories ......

As long as the announcers actually aren't annoying and know what they are talking about I don't care who it is.

Is much being said over in the States about the number of mistakes Enberg is making? I think he has one of the all-time great announcer voices ("Walker... TOUCHDOWN! Oh my!") but he just gets so many names wrong now.

We had a similar thing happen to Bill McLaren, the 'voice of rugby'. He had a fantastic voice and it didn't seem like a proper game if he wasn't doing the voiceover, but by the end of his career he was totally out of touch. In one of his last games he called a try (the equivalent of a touchdown) when the player was three metres short of the line.

Ugghh. With the exception of Nantz/Simms, that is a sorry list. Dierdorf, Cross and Wilcots are some of the worsts commentators out there.

I'll take Wilcots over Dierdorf and Cross any day of the week.

I despise Dierdorf. He's always gotten on my nerves.

I really like Simms, but we almost always lose when he does our games.

Usually means we're playing a REALLY good team since he's their #1.

I know it does but I can't remeber the last game we won with him doing the game. I don't think he did the SD playoff game we won. As much as I really like Simms, I now think of him as bad luck for the Jets.

yes, enberg has been making mistakes for a long time going back to the end of his NBC days but his classic voice keeps him employed and I still like hearing him.

Good call! Throw in Paul Maguire doing the color, they always cracked me up.

Still have fond memories of Marty Glickman calling the games on radio too.
