That's right. After a playoff appearance last year, who would have believed that in the month of September, we would go 1-3. At least 2-2 and a win over a winless Bills starting a rookie QB would have given some hope. But not only did we lose the game, but the way we lost. A useless defense still showing little to no threat of a pass rush, a LB corp also with no pass rush and an occasional run stop after 4 yards. The secondary was not impressive either, but that reflects the lack of a pass rush. Then there is our offense. What can I say about our offense other than it looks offensive? How can you execute a 2 minute drill without ever throwing the ball DOWN THE FIELD? It's amazing. I've held back from bashing Chad throughout the years, but I think his cerebral method of systematically checking down to the half back and hitting the WR for 4 and 5 yard gains will best serve the future of this team as a solid goto BACKUP QB!! I never expected that in September I would be shifting my focus from the playoffs to the DRAFT!!! I thinking with our top five draft pick next year, we should be looking for a stud defensive lineman! or a big fast athletic studly outside pass rushing LB, while picking up help for the offensive line in the middle rounds.. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I'm no Pollyanna, but I do think this is premature. If I'm taking a guess, I'd say 6-10 is the best we can hope for at this point, but I've been amazed by how the schedule plays itself out in years past.
It's not over yet, this week will decide it, Kellen must come in NOW, if he does we can beat the next couple teams before the bye week and get back in this, but only Kellen. This team needs a spark and he is the guy. We are in a very similar situation to 2003 where we went 1-3 and put Chad in. Now we need Kellen
The season is definitely not over We could probably get in at 9-7, and 8-4 the rest of the way is not impossible You never know folks, you never know :jets:
I must admit, I felt that it was over after week 1. Just because the Jets looked so incapable of competing with the Patriots.
and, the genius will start noodle again. bank on it. might as well start to study the draft guides, because if it wasn't for a leon td return of a kick, we'd be 0-4!
The season is far from over. The question is do we make adjustments put all our young talent on the field and open it up, or do we go into the try not to lose mode that will make this season an un-watchable total meltdown? I can deal with rebuilding as long as we have guys who are developing and we are putting up a fight and are entertaining. I can't watch a defense that lacks heart and is trying to scheme it's way to wins and an O that lacks any passion and attacking mentality.
The team came out flat and unprepared, and we are just not good enough to take any team lightly. I knew this was a trap game, which sounds incredibly stupid for a 1-2 team to be caught looking past an opponent. The reason has always been there, of course. No deep game leaves defenses stacking up to stop our run and giving Pennington all the dinks and dunks he can throw. Because the other teams know we are no threat beyond 10 yards through the air. None. And until we can make the opposition defense play honest and cover the entire field, we will keep facing the same every week. The only way to save this season is Kellen Clemens. I love Chad too, but sticking with him now is a dumb idea. Its a no-brainer at this point. Don't let Chad's stats keep fooling us into thinking he's great, because he's not. He's incredibly smart and savvy, but he's never going to fool anybody anymore about his limitations. Until KC becomes our full-time starter, the investment in Thomas Jones and the offensive line is going to be a total waste.
I haven't given up on the Jets just yet. Remember last year... we started 2-3. If we win next week against the Giants were back that point. Can't give up this fast esspecially since the Mets just lost...
I've been a fan for a long time, I don't think watching a team develop is such a horrible thing as long as they play an exciting inspired game.
Anybody would think this who looked at our bogus wins against garbage teams last year. That and the fact we didn't beat a single team with a winning record except NE after our bye and with half their team injured. We even lost to Cleveland last year. It was nice for those who liked to look at last season with their rose tinted glasses though and overlook the obvious.
It is very funny that it is always Chads Fault God forbid it actually Be the defense.Davis barrett Had the best game of the year..How much does he get paid from the other teams TO JUST PLAIN SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!Chad Had a very Very questionable game That Last play was to McCareless and as usual he doesn't go and get the ball. These 2 guys have got to go......
