DeAngelo Hall. Four reasons: 1) Top 5 CB. 2) Jets have good trading history with the Falcons, who want him gone. 3) NOT A CHARACTER PROBLEM. Yes, he rocked the boat last year. But history has pretty much proven that Bobby Petrino is a scumbag, and I would argue that rocking his boat at one's own expense is a sign of good character, not bad. He also stood by Michael Vick despite the fact that it was ridiculously unpopular to do so. 4) We have what the Falcons need. Chad Pennington, Dewayne Robertson and Jonathan Vilma could all do well in Atlanta. We could trade for him cheap and we could sign him below market value because of his behavior and production last year.
We could trade for a 24 year old shut down corner cheap? How? And a below market deal for his production last year? The dude was one of the best corners in the NFL last year...
We could trade for him cheap because the Falcons are desperate to get rid of him. What did Oakland charge for Randy Moss last year?
Did you just say that DeAngelo Hall doesn't have character problems? The guy's one of the biggest jerks in the league. I think that character issues are a stupid excuse against a player though -- if he can come here for cheap, and perform...I'd be all for it.
I would welcome this...he's a lil cocky, but a lot of CB's are. Much was made by his behavior last year, but I don't blame him the coach was a turd. Depends on what we would give up also.
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=112632 I wouldn't exactly call a first round pick cheap.
You're right, that isn't cheap. But teams always ask for more than they get. CP, DR and a 3rd rounder might get it done. JV straight up might get it done, as well.
I don't think you'd have to worry. Falcons would never trade an elite defensive back for our average players.
why is everyone acting like our secondary is the biggest need? did'nt anyone watch how the giants won the superbowl? OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINE!!!!!!!!
Believe it or not The Raiders are one of the teams in talks with The falcons for Deangelo Hall. Player and future high draft choice.
That's it, I changed my mind, I think we should stay away from any marquee FA corners this year. If the Raiders are doing something it has to be wrong.
The most overrated cornerback in the NFL. If ESPN did not hype this guy not a single person outside of Atlanta would even bat an eyelsh at his name. The guy is all hype/talk with little substance. He will make the occasional pick, but more often than not he is getting burned on double moves and ball fakes.
You must have missed his '07 then...except for the Steve Smith incident I'm guessing. This guy went from overrated to underrated real fast...people are still in '06 with mode with him. He shut down everybody last year, and was arguably the top cornerback in the NFL. I don't even know where the character thing came from...besides for the Smith blow up, what's he done thats terrible enough where he's so obviously not a good character guy?
