I'm just curious as to what you guys think are some positions we REALLY need somebody still. For example, we're pretty well set at RB even tho we could get better, so I wouldn't vote for that one. However, I think we really need a safety, so I will vote that one.

I'd say in no pariticular order:

    CB / WR / S / ILB

and then depth accross the board

but I voted CB... thats where I'd look next, depending upon the board

I say CB first, a LB for depth, maybe more Oline depth.

    4th Round - CB

    6th Round - WR > 6'0"

    7th Round - OL depth

All in all, if it comes down to BPA - get 'er done.

  5. We need...

To continue to take the best player available at every opportunity.

Too bad we didn't follow that advice with the 30th pick.

With Dustin Keller coming in, we really don't need a WR IMO.

Coles and Cotchery are a great tandem. Brad Smith is making progress and if he continues, should become a solid WR. And don't forget about Chansi Stuckey either. I'm fine with our WRs...

We do need an ILB and a DB though

I get so nervous when I hear about Elam as our safety. I've hardly ever heard of him, and you guys seem to mostly be set with having us start for us. Now I've heard from some people that our defense should be "scary" now, so can someone explain to me generally how good Elam is and if he has potential?

Also, CB isn't a huge need imo. Look at the past super bowl winners. The Giants didn't have much at CB, the Colts didn't have a whole lot at CB either, and the Pats have only had Samuel... so maybe going into the year with Poteat or Barrett as our #2 wouldn't be terrible.

So I guess in order I'd like S, DE, and then depth wherever.

Our next pick is in Round 4. Gotta go best player available regardless of need at that point. Expect to see a platoon at CB this season, a QB battle between Chad and Clemens, and some waiver wire scrub being our WR3 (and Brad Smith and Stuckey fit in that category).

Not to sound like a pessimist or anything though . . . For the record, I'm happy with our Day 1 picks.

Elam as our kicker? I think you're confused...Abram Elam is our starting Safety while Jason Elam is the place kicker for the Falcons.

I think the secondary is our greatest need right now; specifically CB maybe ILB after that

I'm surprised more folks don't think we need more LBs and more offensive linemen.

In this defense you need a lot of LBers and I'm sorry but Kassel and Chatham suck. We definitely need some more Middle LBers to go with Harris. Pace, BT and Gholston I guess are good for the outside. Is Gholston definitely going to play there? We probably will need a DE, with Ellis getting older.

Also we need more O-linemen. I'm sorry but Damien Woody doesn't excite me at all. I can see him being a bumb this year.

But hey forget all that... why not grab a pass catching TE.

JMO, but no, they are not. Neither is a game breaker, I'm sick of 5 yard fade patterns to Coles, and Smith, IMO, actually REGRESSED last season. It seemed like the only time he was in the game, opposing defenses knew the Jets would try some gimmick play. He was badly underutilized by Not So Mangenious.

Stuckey is recovering from a serious knee injury. He is NO given.

You are drinking too much koolaid here, Smith while making progress is at best a #4 wr, still way too raw to be counted on, Stuckey is a rookie coming from injury for 2 years in a row so that is asking a ton to get anything from him. Who knows what Keller will bring, it is anyones guess, and Coles is coming off injury and he is proceeding towards the downside of his career, at best you can say that our WR depth is shaky and screwed if Coles or Cotchery gets hurt.

For some reason I don't see O-line up there in the choices.

I would draft an offensive tackle in round four. You can still get decent value in that round and o lineman are so coveted in the league. Plus guys are always getting hurt and we need as many warm bodies as possible. So go with the best offensive lineman

Round 6, draft a CB, round 7 draft a safety. Probably won't get great value but just take the BPA at those positions and see what happens
