It seemed a bit curious that Adrian Jones, the Jets' swing tackle, didn't dress for yesterday's win over the Texans. Now we know why. Jones was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, sources said. Jones, driving alone, was stopped by police in Nassau County, L.I., at approximately 4 a.m., a source said. He didn't participate in Saturday's team meeting and walk-through and was declared inactive for the game. Coach Eric Mangini was asked about Jones in today's news conference, saying the third-year lineman didn't play because of "a coaching decision." He didn't elaborate. Jones was fined $20,000 by the team, a source said. He will be subject to the NFL's substance-abuse program. Jones, a fourth-round pick in 2004, started every game in 2005. He lost his right-tackle job in training camp to Anthony Clement, but he appeared in the first 10 games on special teams. As a freshman at Kansas, Jones was involved in a serious car crash that required a three-day stay in ICU with head injuries. There was no report of alcohol being involved; Jones said the car blew a tire and rolled twice.
Never understood why anyone would drink and drive. A friend of mine decided that would be a good idea 2 months ago, and he drove off into the woods in NJ. Morons
I hate it when cops who are Giant fans pull over Jet players for something as lame a dwi or loaded uzi's in the trunk. we can't catch a break.
Depends on how many drinks you have. Usually you should be fine with about 6 regular beers (or I guess about 12 lite beers). Generally when people go out, they drink, and in order to get to wherever you're going, you need a car. Most people find their way home fine. It's only a problem if you're a minority or are swerving around stupidly.
You'd think all these athletes would learn after the lesson that was taught to them by Leonard Little after he killed a woman. Oh wait he was slapped on the wrist and oh yeah a few years later he gets caught for, guess what another DUI and again is slapped on the wrist. When athletes are treated like gods and can get away with murder (unless your an idiot like Rae Carruth) they will continue to break the law. When society treats athletes like people and punishes them for the crimes they commit they'll stop breaking the law.

What a stupid thing for Jones to be doing 24 hours before a game. Suppose Clement goes down and he has to take over? Not exactly a good way to win back your starting job.
How dumb is that, 4:00am the morning before a game. Jeez, bye-bye Adrian this will clearly not be tolerated by this regime.....
Well in all fairness to Adrian, it could have been worse- they could have found sex toys, a bottle of astroglide and a live goat inside the car too......
Yeah this definitely seems like the end for Jones. Reading stories about how Coleman worked hard to get his job back after being demoted and even McCareins asking on special teams after being made all but invisible this year. I doubt the CS is very pleased with this type of behavior.
Yes your point is far more important then the TYPO I made posting it. To bad some get it & others are in the wilderness there whole life. I guess seeing what is important is what seperates successful people from unsucessful ones
Proper spelling can also separate successful people from unsuccessful ones. So can the ability to use a spel checkker.
We were probably going to be shopping next year for this position anyway. Clement has been doing an okay job but we'll need to address it at some point. Jones might as well pack his bags. I didn't know he rolled a car in college claiming "the tire blew out." Yeah. Uh-huh.
