He has Jetsconfidential and says that the Jets sign RT Anthony Clement... http://www.jetsinsider.net/forums/showthread.php?t=115371 If you go to jetsconfidential.com you will see we signed a veteran OT... http://jets.scout.com/index.html Anthony is 6'8" and 337 pounds! http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/12278
espn says: He is a big and physical mauler in the run game, especially at ROT. He can engulf defenders and he has great natural strength - even though he tends to be a waist bender. He has a good initial punch and because he is so big, he can force edge rushers to widen their rush lanes even if he lacks the quickness to move with them. He is stiff and plays straight lined, and he has marginal lateral movement skills. He cannot hit a moving target and he is in big trouble if he has to play on an island and deal with a quick DE. He cannot handle double moves and he just looks sluggish and his weight and durability are a concern and he can tire easily late in games.
I have no links but Clement is a 9 yr vet who last played for the 49ers. He was originally drafted by the Cards early 2nd rnd I think out of SW Louisiana. I think he started for about 50 games and might be better than Mike Pearson. We had him in for a visit a month ago. Is he great no but like if we signed Pearson we can still be looking at DBrick.
He's been a starter for a long time down in Zona. Although he's an average pass protector, he's still an upgrade in that regard over Gragg/Fabini, and he's a very very good run blocker. Little known fact: The year we drafted Dorian Boose w/ our first selection in round 2, Parcells openly admitted the player he wanted above all else was Clement.
That's what I would say, and is a good signing as such. A rotation guy. I don't think this has any bearing on whether we take Brick.
I dunno about that...We have signed or traded for someone at all the positions we will probably be drafting with that 4th pick. LB, OT, DE, QB...So this along with all of our other signings does not rule out any player...they are filling in these positions so that they can go BPA...
If this turns out to be legit I believe the Jets are planning on rocking the boat come draft day. Just a gut feeling but this has gone from adding depth to all out positioning. Ladies and gentlemen we are going after a skill position in the 2006 NFL draft. Dare I say it, I think they might be eyeing the Grand Prize ... Seacrest Out.
