http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2011/08/bills-release-former-first-rounder-aaron-maybin/1 I guess showing up to camp weighing 228 was the last straw...
I say bring him in for a tryout. If he sucks at pass rushing, at least that will give Vlad the Impaler some confidence at tackle.
really though? i mean didn't he have at least some minor impact to the team? i'm being serious, was he really worse than the ghost?
Splitting hairs, but yes. It's the difference between averaging roughly 10 tackles a season and 14 tackles a season.
lol. point taken. for some reason i thought he at least managed to start a few games. whereas ghost only did that when, well when we played the bills.
I think he did but that is more because the bils suck and the jets don't so we had someone who was capable of starting on the roster.
I don't think you can say that. Maybin never should have been drafted in the top 15, hell not even in the first round. (it was Dick Jaurons staff thats a bigger bust then Gholston) As opposed to Gholston who was drafted 6th overall and was on the top 10 players board for every team. I feel sorry for Maybin. Losing his child last year most likely had alot to do with his lack of motivation to train and put on some weight. Can't blame him, if my infant child died, my job, work ethic, and physical weight would be effected for awhile too. I wish him luck and hope he gets a chance to make some teams roster, hopefully he saved some of that 15 million he was guarenteed just in case.
I would have kept him one more year personally, he was only set to make $767,000 this year. But Batten did play well the other night and had 2 sacks so Maybin was expendable i guess.
There were GMs that didn't want to draft Gholston until round 3. Mangini was the reason why Gholston got drafted because he was scared that BB was going to get him and he thought he found his Willie McGinest. Maybin got cut a year earlier than Gholston. At least Gholston became an unnoticeable backup as a 34 DE and didn't shit the bed when he learned that role.
Yeah but you can't debate that Maybin was the better prospect then Gholston. Atleast I would hope not. Maybin had a good stretch of about 6 games in a half season in college. But how ironic is this?? Per rotoworld, the Bears are very interested and are looking to sign Maybin lol. Maybin and Gholston on the same team FTW!!
