So shorty Ill being going to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to see the presentation of the Afl premiership cup to my team Melbourne . The last time we won was in 1964 , 57 years ago . We played in 2000 and 1998 grand final ( think superbowl) but got smashed . This year we were the best team of the year , won 17 lost 4 and drew 1 . We smashed our opponents in the finals too ( play offs ) and in the grand final were 19 points down in third quarter then scored 100 points to 7 for rest of game. Sadly the game was played in Perth due to covid . Last year it was in brisbane . Until then it was always played at the mcg .Because of covid Restrictions I couldnt flyto Perth legally . Others did illegally are in jail. In july I expected perth would have been hosting in September . I booked flights hoping were going to make it . We did but alas I couldnt be there. today they are replaying the game on big screen and oresenting players with medals again etc . Should be over 35 k ppl there. Ill be buying a beer
Jets are my second mega-drought. Rangers were the first and it was so nice when 1994 rolled around and the Coliseum chants of "1940! 1940! 1940!" became a thing of the past. The funny thing is I saw more Rangers games at the Coliseum than in MSG. the reason? Tickets were like half-price compared to the Garden, even after the Isles started winning cups.
In 98 I saw devils vs rangers at msg . Gretsky was playing for rangers . There was seinfeld episode about devils fans
Awesome day , lots of highlights but this was special The current coach was presented the coaches medal by an old coach Neale Daniher Neale suffers from MND lou gerings disease . The outcome is dying at an early age. He set up a charity to fight mnd that has raised 60 million dollars to research to find a cure https://fightmnd.org.au/ iAlways got to the match ( covid prevented going last 2 years ) and have the beanies A top guy and so pleased he saw a Demons premiership before the inevitable
Aussie Rules is an awesome game bud. Glad you got to see a championship. Too bad it wasn't at the MCG though, awesome stadium.
